Lug hole cases

Why do I see watches with rolex engravings on inside bezel, around the dial. Then they have lug holes. I know the newer watches have engravings, and the older watches have lug holes,so how are these put together? Are they Franken-watches? Do people put watches together with anything they have and sell them as newer watches? What does this do for resale if one were to be purchased? Thanks for the info....

It was around 2002 end of Y series early 2003 that the non lugs holes started to make there appearence on most models. And from 2004 Serial F/D on some models the Rolex Rolex Rolex on the Rehaut ring.So its unlikely to see a non lug case genuine Rolex with the rehaut Rolex Rolex branding. But watches like say the DJ had a non lug hole case from the mid 1990s its mainly the sports line up switched to the non lug hole cases 2002/3.

I have seen a sub no date, with lugs, rolex on the rehaut ring that is to be a random serial #. Do you think the case has been replaced with an older model? Or just a questionable watch all together?

ND Sub is the one I see most often. I'm not sure if I saw another lug hole watch with rehaut engravings.

The Sub No-Date 14060m always had lug holes, even the last run random serials did.
