1575 movement, different in DJ and Submariner?
I read somewhere sometime that there is a small difference between the 1575 movements used in say the DateJust and Date watches compared to those used in the Submariner and GMT Master. This had something to do with one of the plates and had to do with maybe the slimmer case of the DJ and their pie-pan dials compared to the sporty watches.
Now, this is only a very vague memory I have, is this true or am I mixing things up? I have not found anything more about it and looking at pictures of 1575 movements is inconclusive, there are very few pictures of the dial side to be found. It would make it possible to use a DJ 1575 in say a GMT, but not the other way around. If you think I am hallucinating, just let me know... |

The 1575GMT is about.64mm taller due to longer cannon pinion, hour wheels and sweep second pinion.
You are correct 1575 GMT would not fit in 1603 case. But 1575 will fit inside 1675/0 case. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Here are a couple of pictures of what i am hinting at, notice that the plate or ring what it is called that holds the date wheel in place is different. I have assumed that if you are going to use it in a DJ type of watch with a slim case you need the type that is not straight. At least to my untrained eyes.
Are there in fact two different parts for slim and thick cases, or is it just a matter of the design having changed over the years? |
