Dillema of choices

I had a dealer sell me a 5167 that's coming in in May- (at a good price) - and in the meantime I went on a list for a 5168g and that came in - so I got it-- now what to do with the 5167 ? I thought it was a great deal something like 5% off - but with them raising all the prices and everything I wonder if it would be better for me to go ahead and buy the 5167 even though I really don't know if I want 2 so similar-- I really think I actually want a 5711R -- I know Patek would frown upon flipping and I suppose if I sold the 5167 right away, well-- that'd be bad.

id get something else and the 5711R is a great option... or get a 5164A. I have a 5164 and wold love to add a 5168G. A 67 though is too similar to a 68 for me so no way i would have both.

5711R and 5168G would be an immense power pair, go for it! Don't mess around with the 67 just for profiteering.

agree

if you have an AD that got you a 5168G, dont risk burning that bridge flipping a watch. That is a hard one to get at the moment so it seems as though you have a good relationship. Not worth it.

Im assuming of course its an AD, if its a secondary market dealer then do whatever makes the most financial sense.

You can flip the 5168 for a tidy profit. As well as the 5167, then buy the 5711R. Patek doesn't have a gestapo of seeking out flippers. Do what you want, buy what you want. Flip what you want. At the end of the day, they took your money, the watch you can do as you see fit. Obviously as others have stated, don't tell your AD if you flip.

The 5167 at that price sounds great. I would let the 5168g go as I would think they have a list, then use it to move up on the 5711r list.

I hadn't even considered ditching the 5168 ! I don't think i can do that- I like it too much... it's my first- I'm attached to it-- and looking thru the entire Patek lineup- I actually like it the best by a lot...

So- cancel the 5167 - actually I am going to work with that dealer and see if I can switcheroo to the 5711r. They would probably be happy to have that 5167 freed up.

So- I don't have a relationship with any dealer. I called around on the 5167 until I found a dealer who would sell me one- actually the first dealer I called did the whole thing over the phone. Then I went to my local Patek dealer and got on the "list" for the 5168 and with no relationship it came in in a month-- so IDK I think there must be a fair amount of luck involved in landing the models that are in short supply. Either that or maybe big dealers in big cities like NY have a much higher demand because incomes are so much higher.

I'm secretly hoping they discontinue that 5168 now lol. Although, being a precious metal high margin item, I doubt they would do that.

Watch collecting is a bad hobby for one with the tendencies of a hoarder.
