Big Blue

[Too Old]

After Basel last year there were only two watches that really piqued my interest.
SS Skydweller Blue and the Omega Big Blue.
I registered my interest with AD's in both and waited.
With the AD I am on the list with for the Skdweller still not having had one in, I made an executive desicion to get the Big Blue when the Omega AD gave me the call.
I've had it for a couple of weeks now and couldn't be more pleased. The blue is darker than it comes up in pictures, and seems to change with the light.
Really comfortable on the wrist and the build quality is outstanding.
Accuracy is superb and the GMT function allows me to keep track of my youngest daughter who is travelling in India at the moment.
It's a pain that India is one of those countries with an half hour time zone thingy!!

Excellent watch and hearty congratulations! I own the Deep Black Sedna version and I agree with everything you've stated on build quality and comfort. These ceramic divers are certainly a break from tradition, but they really are one heck of a watch.

Omega made a Big Blue back in the 60's as well. Very expensive now....

Congrats. I got mine just a couple of weeks ago. It's better than I anticipated. Comfort level of the watch is superb. It's the largest one I own, yet it doesn't seem like I'm wearing a pan on my wrist.. not one bit.

I suspect many look at the watch as a plastic dive watch... I kind of like the "hidden" look of what I think is a beautiful piece. Both inside and outside the watch.

Sorry to revive an old thread. There are no long term reviews of this watch on the interweb as far as I'm able to find! I'm wondering if the original posters or anyone else might own this omega planet ocean big blue? I'm curious if long-term owners maintain interest in the aesthetic as I have found its look very appealing for quite a while now but am a little concerned how I'll like it after a year of ownership.

I’ve owned a deep Black Ceramic which is from 2019 and I wear it a lot, perfect holiday watch and it doesn’t have a mark on it, still looks new. I really love the way Omega do their ceramic cases, beautiful too look at and incredibly well finished and hard wearing.

I don't own it but the OP did say the accuracy and GMT is superb. That's just enough if you ask me.

The super high water and scratch resistance is very appealing especially for holidays like you mention. And the brand and blue ceramic case are simultaneously awesome but less likely to scream high end luxury watch in a place where it might be less desirable to attract that type of attention.

Seems like it doesn't get visually boring for you after years of ownership which was my primary concern with the one I'm interested in.
