Finally after 3.5 months of waiting

Checked my email today and I had this sitting in my inbox... Still overseas on business and just another reason to look forward to getting back...

-------

Good Morning,

Ho, Ho, Ho, Santa has arrived with a holiday gift for you. Jim walked in the door just now with your Daytona. Guess it arrived on Friday. See you when you are back in town.

You’re lucky to only wait that long.

Went with white. The surprising thing about the wait is I know I am not a high dollar buyer or VIP with this or any AD of any watch. But I have given them steady business since 2014. This will be my 5th Rolex purchase from them (BLNR, SubC, my Wife’s DJ, Explorer, and now the Daytona) and 2 Tudors (Ranger and BBN ETA) along with a couple pairs of earrings and necklaces scattered in there for presents for the wife.

I always wanted a Daytona for as long as I have been collecting watches and was debating between the Daytona and a VC Overseas (Another watch and Brand I’ve always wanted)... I asked one of my “Go To” people at the AD (only purchased from the Manager and Assistant Manager but all good people) how long the wait would be for a Daytona. Was of course expecting to be put on a list (again not a VIP / High Dollar buyer), or an answer of 1.5+ years... She said she would look in to it and give me a buzz when she finds out. When she called me back she said she spoke to the owner and the next white dial in the company is mine if I want it, jaw dropped and said it’s mine. I guess because of my steady purchase history and great communication back and forth with her and the staff (it pays to be polite, compliment the staff, and actually have good conversation with them about watches AND other things) she went straight to the owner and secured it for me (multiple branches in the company). I guess it really does pay to be polite... I keep reading all the threads / posts about people being rude to the staff. I guess politeness is just as good as buying a PM watch.

Congrats on a beautiful watch. Change the ‘Finally’ to ‘Only’ in the title of the thread and you are all set.

Totally agree with you on being polite to the AD folks. Nice catch and congrats!

Good to hear, congrats!
Agree, be polite and engage with staff everywhere and lots of strict “rules/policies” seem to not be so strict anymore.

Wow, congrats.

I'm finally on the wait list for a black dial. No idea why I didn't do that a year ago...
