Were there a couple models, sizes, and or functions in particular you're wanting in the Pam? I think narrowing it down a little bit would help us to help you.

I would go with a Luminor for your first. At least that’s what I did.

If you can give us some more specifics and budget, we can help with some recommendations...

Hey watchfreak18

What we like will probably be not what you like. Best is to do homework and if you have friends with Panerai watches, ask them to let you try on. You need to feel it on your wrist would be the best.

Remember, one man’s meat is another man’s poison. Likes are very subjective.

Anyway, like most of the people here suggested, start with the base.

go to a boutique or ad and try some on, then narrow the search down and make a decision. also check the archives, this comes up often.

I agree with almost all of the above. If I was starting out now knowing what I do about Panerai (which isn't much), I wouldn't start with a Base. Don't get me wrong, they're great pieces and you won't lose much money of you buy right and flip later down the line. However, I don't tend to flip so future value isn't at the top of my list.

If I could turn the clock back, the only thing I might've done different is pick up the 690 when I had the opportunity.

If you're thinking of a one and only, if funds allow then look no further than a 233. Like others have said though, give us an idea of the complications you like, choice of style (Luminor, Rad, etc.), wrist size, budget, colour of your pants, etc. and then we can throw some ideas at you.

111 is what I did. Went after a transitional model, the G. Fat painted dial with Panerai Panerai Panerai decorated movement.

Hi All,

Thanks for your replies. After doing my homework I narrowed down my choices to these two. Now please let me know what you think.

I think you have been asking the same question in other thread.

For better housekeeping it is advisable to keep it in single topic so you can get better responses.

Cheers,
Will
