Incoming - my first Omega

This just arrived this morning, and man I'm pumped!

The loved/hated 3594.50 "Replica" Speedy Pro. I like that it's not super popular, and I love the hands. It came with a great bracelet (which apparently none of my tools are thin enough to remove the pins on, but that's another issue), so I popped it on to the black perlon that also came today.

In excellent shape, lots of character, and I'm so thrilled!

Nice - i like that a lot. I felt that the faux patina on the 60th was slightly overdone. This looks good to me. Congrats

Cool watch! Looks great.

Is the bracelet a reference 1498 or 1499? I think most 3594s came on bracelet reference 1998, but its possible some of the earlier 3594s came with these earlier Speedmaster bracelets. I like the old-school proportions of the 1498/1499.

It is indeed a 1499 (this 3594 dates to 1998). It's great, though I think I'm in the process of destroying every pin and collar in it; I'm 0 for 2 at the moment. Never had an issue doing pins and collars, so this is weird and a bummer. I'll have to start looking for some new pins and collars, I don't think I want to go for a third at this rate. Not the end of the world, but still kinda sucks.

Sounds like you're being very industrious

You probably have tools you like, but for pressing those Omega pins out, I like this device I bought from Esslinger:

https://www.esslinger.com/watch-band...stable-height/

When I press the pins back in, I just use the flat side of a case-knife and try to use steady pressure, and then I use the aforementioned press for the final millimeter into the link.

I haven't looked for pins/collars in a long time, but you might find them at Otto Frei in Oakland. He used to be a big-time dealer of OEM Omega parts, and while he's scaled way back from that now, I'm betting he still has the pins/collars you need. Navigating his site takes practice, but I'm pretty sure this is the page you need: http://www.ofrei.com/page584.html

I've never checked on Esslinger's site to see if they sell the pins/collars for Omega bracelets, but it may be worth a look.

One day I'll score a 1498/1499 for my contemporary Speedmaster Pro. I found a perfect one about a year ago, but for some reason I couldn't get one of the end-links to fit properly to the case. The spring-bar on that side simply wouldn't snap into place.

Anyhow, your watch looks dynamite, and I'm excited for you!

Other than the “grail” bands (1447, 1450, 1474) the 1498 and 1499 bands are the niciest vintage style bands due to their taper 20/16 style. My 3572.50 came on the 1498 and loved it, sold it as was able to source the 1450, which currently “belongs” to my 3592.50

Thanks! And thanks for that info. I actually found Otto's site last night, and you're right, navigating it is a bit of a challenge. I'll probably just end up reaching out to him asking about the specific items. Looking forward to wearing that bracelet though!

Looking good! I'm definitely excited to put the bracelet back on.
