Rolex gilt GMT information
Hi everyone,
I have a local guy looking for some more information on a family watch. It appears to be approximately a 1963 gilt dialled gmt with pointed crown guards. No idea of serial, but from my research it should be around the 1 million mark? My knowledge /experience is lacking with more vintage of rolexes and was wondering if you guys wouldn't mind letting me know what you think of the watch? The dial looks to have some lume loss on the plots, and the hands don't look to match? Does the case look ok? I do understand that the photos are rubbish, but the owner swore these were the best ones he could get, but would try again later. I'll hopefully be able to have a look in person in the future and get some better photographs, view under loupe and UV as well, which I can add later. Thanks, Ed |

Rolex gilt GMT information
Possibly service hands... check for open 6s and 9s on the date wheel. It looks quite new (white) compared to the rest of the watch.
PCGs, small arrow GMT hand and missing “DATE” would all be correct together. Tired looking overall but I like it Sent from my cracked, broken hand wound phone. IG @morning_tundra |

Well worn! What would cause that corrosion around the inner part of the insert? It looks to be eaten away.

The engraving on back case is worrying as well as it does not look like it was engraved long time who consider the age of this gilt gmt.
Unless the owner just newly engraved it. At least from the picture the engraving look very new to me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks for the replies everyone, definitely looks to be a well worn watch. Better photos will hopefully clear things up a little.
Hmm good point about the engravings Mineral. I think it might make more sense with the watch in hand, but might have to wait a little while for that. Thanks! |

Worry less,or not at all, about a date wheel, that is the least of your problems with this watch. The dial is not correct for that pointed crown guard model.

I had thought it was a type C dial which according to a few resources could be in a late pcg case. But would defer to your more experienced opinion. Thanks! |
