I was so close to buying a 00111 few days ago

I don't own a Panerai. I was so close to putting the money down on 00111 the other day. Something pulled me back in the end I don't know why or what it was. I have sub, explorer 2 and DJ, I am still thinking about this 00111 still and was just wanting opinions on whether I should just go ahead? I have been looking at them for years but never pulled the trigger I think probably my head was saying just stick with Rolex. What sets Panerai apart? Is the 00111 a good start? Thanks

I have both rolex and panerai. Personally i like rolexes more but having a panerai is key imo for a collection. Its the watch that only watch enthusiast know. And its def a respectable watch especially for its price. Have you tried one on? You have a bunch of rolexes i personally would branch out and acquire more brands if i was you. Give you some verity. As for a good one to start with i would go with anyone you like. Personally i love the fake patina models aka dirty dials. But everyone has there preference.

Try it on and if you like it...go for it! I have owned many Panerai and flipped several for various reasons. You might consider buying pre-owned from the forum here so you won't lose much or any if you change your mind. Be careful though, as Panerai are very addictive and you will need a "strap fund" to go along with your watch!

You never regret your first Panerai as it might be the start of a dozen �� Pam111 is a great choice, my first was a Pam643

Panerai makes some interesting watches. If you like it, however, just get it!

I love my PAM111. I like the sandwich dial and lume a lot. I wear that the most. Love how there's so many different strap options and their very easy to swap out. Just like @kjp1Iam says, you're gonna need that strap fund.

111 is great but you can also try 312 or 320

PAM and Rolex are entirely different beasts. I love the panerai brand, feel, and look of the watches.

There are so many variations to choose from as well as sizes that almost everyone can find a PAM they love. 111 is a great choice - but also would highly recommend the titanium 177 / 176 as your first. Lighter then the 111 (SS) and a bit more low key being titanium - which is great for daily AND weekend wear. The polished ss on many models is a bit too much for me to sport all around.

Had rolexes only, but now I am more diversifying and I like it. Omega as well now and a first (but not last) PAM (112). Really eyeballing the 512 now...

I have a datejust, submariner and a PAM 111. I wear the PAM to work on Fridays and on the weekends. I am afraid to wear anything Rolex to work. The stigma of wearing it makes people draw assumptions about your spending habits. Most people do not know what a Panerai is so I can wear it comfortably. I generally wear the Rolex when I have to dress up for meetings or events. Most of the time I wear my Apple watch to keep track of my exercise. You will like the Panerai and its versatility. Changing straps to match your wardrobe is a nice option to have.

Yep, you need at least one Panerai on your watch rotation.
I started with a 111 then 243, then 029. Couldn't be happier with my choices.

111 is a great start. 005 is another good option. Buy one preowned for close to $4000 used and you will always be able to resell if you change your mind. Always have a Pam in my collection. Sort of a mist.

I also have a PAM and did not regret it. It is a beautiful watch. PAM 111 is also a rather popular first PAM for a lot of people. I was fortunate to land myself with a LE PAM 390.

I think having at least one PAM is a great way to 'branch out' a bit. I've owned a 111 and a 24. Sold them both at different times, picked up a 111 again and ended up letting it go for a 233. I don't see the 233 going anywhere. The versatility of the straps it's great. I say go for it.
