You don't like the dial layout on my favourite "mainstream" watch (5712), for instance. I can understand that as I used to feel the same way. But now, in a rather similar way to the "jolie laide" Citroen 2CV, I absolutely love it. Wherever aesthetics is concerned, there's always room for another pov.
Crap I missed that last part, just paid attention to the part about me, yes I am very selfish.
PJ please don't, some may not like your humor and comments, but I love them, like some didn't like the threads where I posted pages about if I should get this or this watch, some really didn't like it either, the ignore button exists for those who will not want your comments.
Seriously don't leave, Texex seems has left the forum because of a little too much criticism of RM on his thread, after the thread was put back again, I don't always agree with Texex, or others, but if there weren't these oddballs like us, this would be a boring place, you remember what I went through before incomings arrived, rather made me laugh than anything, except once. Don't leave please

Edit: for those who want a forum only about watches without any criticism, I think there are a few which fit the bill, but I find them boring, at least here sometimes we have some fun, let's keep it that way...

Exactly, I know I am one of them, and happy to do my part

Thanks to PJ I am watching the life of Brian, my favorite Monty Python film, Wholly grail being second, for our US friends not familiar with them, I highly suggest them, and the others, they are amazing

It's hard for me to understand people taking offence as it all seems very light-hearted to me. I think some posters take this whole watch collecting lark way too seriously (and possibly also themselves).

We don't all like the same watches, but who really cares? Personally, in general, I tend to try to avoid commenting on watches I don't particularly like.

Agreed. I really enjoy PJ's posts and humour. He is one of the few people who doesn't always post about the same 4 brands and brings variety and different points of view to discussions. He is very knowledgeable and I appreciate his contributions to the forum.

I couldn't care less what he wears and I don't think its any of our business.

Absolutely agree, and any thread that doesn't run the risk of getting locked is hardly worth the read IMO.

The thing about Instagram is that the photo uploader can delete any comment (and block any commenter) that he so chooses.

Meanwhile this is a discussion forum and so I agree that disagreement is part of the fun

I agree, I voted no on this poll, because as much as PJ's poll on me was great, witty friendly and funny, this one for me was like "you talk about watches but never show what you have so show us!", so not so friendly IMHO...

He is clearly the most knowledgeable member I know when it comes to watches, who cares if he even has a Swatch, I don't one second, he never said he owned anything, but owned huge horological knowledge, what seems rudness to some is sarcasm from a clearly very smart guy, yeah I know sarcasm doesn't work very well with Americans, don't know why, but each time in the past I used it with any guy from the US they didn't appreciate at all, smart french people love it, I do and all of my friends do, you would hear the things we tell each other in public, and he is just a guy who speaks his mind, in a direct manner.

Anyways he told me his time in the PP section is over, I think it is a loss, but hope he will keep posting in the AP and other watches forum.

I hope we will stop loosing characters, lost Brian already, ok he did go too far, but was a lot of fun, because once there will be no more fun, well this character right here might also stop posting, some will most likely be happy about that, and TRF will look like any other forum with "congrats" "this or that watch?" and other likely things, in other words a VERY BORING WATCH FORUM like there already exists a few, registered on others but found them boring as hell, at least here we sometimes have fun...

Karl your humor is getting better and better, you are slowly becoming one of the characters around here, hope I had something to do on that

And on Brexit the English would be stupid to not go out, the EU is doomed, I know 2 people working at medium high levels for it, and a friend (also left the EU for Odessa, brilliant guy) is the son of one of the big makers of the EU, retired now, so I get some info the public doesn't get, without going into details no more money, at all, plus other factors, the EU as we know it now will implode, give it 10 years max, mark my words...

I wasn't counting Texex in the oddballs...

His attacks made me laugh mostly to be honest, and at one point I was the biggest victim of his attacks, as I wanted to be sure to get keepers and not flip them and posted a lot, the attacks implying that I couldn't afford them and it was BS made me laugh, I could have posted a bank balance with blacked out parts, basically I could have gotten any PP GC except the Grand master chime, but why, I never cared what people thought of me, except my close friends and family.
He made a fool of himself asking the RM thread to be removed after some criticism of RM watches, mostly tool marks on the case sides, to which even huge RM collectors, John for example testified, and disappeared once the thread was put back on...

A few members did PM me that he ruined this place for them, which is too bad as it was members I appreciated, but before ruining something for me you need to work really hard

I’ve always been “all over the AP forum”… are you going to be brave enough to start the poll or just trying to incite others to do it for you?

Firstly, it was in no way intended to bully PJ or cause any offence. I publicly apologise to PJ if that is how he took it.

I think most of us on here know who PJ is - a knowledgeable, but opinionated person who is often outspoken. He has also said he doesn't like Patek watches. I think it's fair to say he has some notoriety on this forum. So because of his online persona, people naturally want to know what watches he has. What does this guy wear who's had all to say that he has? I'm afraid it goes with the territory - "Let's see your cards" if you will, because you could be bluffing.

Sure, he doesn't have to own a Patek to have an opinion, but if you have owned a Patek that opinion is more credible. It's like a restaurant critic who writes a restaurant review by looking at the menu, but not tasting the food.

So, I wanted to give him a little bit of a hard time, but good humoured banter, nothing offensive. I don't expect for a moment he will post his collection, but that doesn't stop a bit of mickey taking. PJ's post are quite sarcastic and he's clearly intelligent, so I thought he would be game.
Why assume anyone is intelligent?
