Icon20 Rolex Sea-Dweller 126600 Authenticity Check

Hi,

Someone is trying to sell me this Rolex Sea-Dweller 126600 and giving a good deal as he is in need of money. As per him he bought this from a legit dealer. Need some help from you guys on the authenticity. Do you see any obvious issue in this timepiece?

Yes.

Also the story and the first post are more red flags.

That is a fake watch from China. Avoid like the plague.

NEVER EVER buy a modern Rolex without full box and papers. NO excuse for a seller not to have these.

as they say, buy the seller and then the watch. check the trusted sellers on here, i'm sure one of them has a nice SD43 at a good price with no worries to go with it

Can’t say, for sure, but Rolexes are not wrapped with red anywhere, are they? I feel like I’ve seen that wrapping style in videos about fakes. Also, I can see a green sticker, on the case back, which Rolex has not used, since 2007. Stay far away from that!

Yep, the tape on an authentic bracelet and clasp has red tabs. The caseback sticker has a green tab, but the one in the photo looks like the older style? And it's also missing in another picture.

I will occasionally look at new stock when it comes in, and I don't remember any having the bracelet wrapped like that. It's possible it's removed before I get to see them. The lugs also don't have those protectors on the underside.

Yep, while that watch looks like a ringer, my 16600 came back from RSC with a new clasp with a load of red tape on it.

Welcome to the forum.

Are the watch and the seller anywhere close to RSC Toronto?

There are never any deals on Rolex, everyone knows the market prices. There are just good prices and over priced. Be smart

Are all the comments just related to the stickers? Anybody could re-sticker a real watch. It is hard to tell much about the actual watch from the photos. The front view proportions look a little off to me. Are there box and papers? Did not see that mentioned at all.

I respectfully disagree. Occasionally someone in need of cash will offer up the real deal at a price lower than retail. You just have to be in the right place at the right time and know what you are looking at. Being able to sniff out a scam is a skill that only comes from experience.

Subject watch is a high end Chinese fake. I always wonder if these type of posts may be just for getting the forums opinion on the fake watch to see if they can pawn it off as real.

Its fake for sure, and you are absolutely right that this is not a sincere post. The user is trying to see if it would pass as a real Rolex, and people shouldn't even give this post the time of day.

Especially when it's a "one and done" post from a new forum member.

As others have said, this is a fake - these look like photos from the Chinese replica sites.

Maybe the OP is trying to see how legit the watch looks.

Yeah, these one and done posts seeking opinions on a suspect looking watch (with a suspect story to go with it) are just fishing for opinions on their wares.

Best to avoid being specific regarding issues and just call them out as fake. Hopefully the mods lock the thread quicker that way too.

I need serial number and clasp codes to be sure, this watch isn’t necessarily counterfeit, it needs further inspection.

Stickers, wrap etc doesn’t say anything..

What are they, other than the obvious SEL gaps, bezel marking coloring and black hole effect if you don't mind me asking?

I'm in the market for a 126600 in the next couple of months and want to do my due diligence.

We are not allowed to discuss the details of Fake Rolex watches here. There are many websites devoted to the study of fake Rolex watches.
