16520 A serial or 116520 2016? Advice needed
Hi all,
I have been looking for a Daytona for sometime now and I finally have the opportunity to get one. I found a 116520 from 2016 in very good condition almost like new, white dial full set. Only that just now, another seller came to me offering a 16520 A serial black dial in also really good condition, almost full set, no original guarantee but with a RSC card with a service done in June 16. Which one is better? The Zenith or the in house movement? I would love to hear your opinion on which one would you chose and why? Both are at similar price level, Many thanks to all. |

Aesthetics is a matter of taste..but assuming equal condition of the watch I'd pick the zenith. But the 116520 are no slouch either..no losers here.

The only way to know is to see both of them.
One day I met a guy who was wearing a black dial 16520 and I was able to compare it to my black dial 116520. In my opinion, the upgraded bracelet in the newer model made it a better watch for every day wear, but the older 16520 had a touch more charm to it. I know it doesn’t help, but you’re choosing between two awesome watches and can’t lose. Whichever one you go with, don’t look back. Be content that you own a highly coveted watch that is among the best chronographs ever made. I love the sh!t out of my 116520, partially because my wife gave it to me as a special gift and because it is such a great watch. I’ll never part with it. Best of luck! |

This post has been up for an hour and no one has suggested getting them both? The internet must be down!
I like the look of the 16520 white dial more than the 116520 white dial, because the black sub dial rings have a similar awesome look as the ceramic Daytona. I tend to think newer Rolexes are improved upon, with better bracelets, etc., but if you want vintage, you want vintage. I guess I am no help, sorry!

I nice example zenith will be harder and harder to come by. I'd snatch that up and either trade down the road if you MUST have the 116520. Either that or save and add it, can never have enough Daytonas.
So is the pricing the same? |

I think it's worth noting that the Zenith movement is non-hacking.

I know it's a slight digression from the thread, but for almost all watches everyone talks the talk of in house movements ( even the Daytona prior to 2000). For ex ap 26320 doesn't have in house movt and how great when ap has in house movt. Now back to this thread, the actual movt is better in the 6 digit ref... It hacks, 72 hrs power reserve, better anti mag hair spring, minor up grade to chrono pushers so less likely to break, and do forth. So based on movt it should win hands down. Now if one takes about aesthetics .... That's subjective. If bracelet, no one can argue the solid links is better. The answer seems pretty clear unless the question is what's better investment.

just remember that in the future, only rolex will be able service daytonas. No one else will be able to get parts. it may be something to think about if get an older or vintage model.

I currently own an 116520 and have been searching for a 16520 to add to my collection. If I were you I’d get the 16520 as it’s availability is more limited compared to its newer sibling.

with all due respect to 4130. It's got to be zenith.... Have you seen that dial?
If you like leather bands the 16518 and 16519 are a great value and have Rolex leather band options which are great and a pretty good value. |
