AP Fever

Long time Rolex Fan boy here, but recently started to get into AP.

Been trying out a lot of models. Even a 37mm Diamond Bezel.

It seems you have a small wrist like me. My wrist is 6.5”. Have you tried on a 39mm? The 37mm is too small on you.

39mm looks to be a perfect size for you.

Once you go AP, it's never the same with Rolex. Don't get wrong, they're still awesome... but they're just not AP!

Your right, a 15300 (39mm) is perfect. I tried one on, unfortunately forgot to take a pic.

Currently in the process of getting a 41mm 15400.

I really like the ROO! Big bastards, but they have such wrist presence.

Well if the 39mm fits perfect then don’t get the 41mm. Let me post pictures of my 15400 I had to flip because it was just too big on me. I don’t want you to regret and then lose several thousand dollars off the retail when you decide to go with the 39 mm. I’ll grab a cup of coffee and then switch to Tapatalk and post pictures standby.

Now as you can see the 41mm as a dress watch just looks too big. The 39mm is perfect. I think as far as an offshore goes I can get away with a 42 mm because it’s more of a sports watch. Well see. I have a perfect condition rubber clad coming today.

Go with a 39mm. :-)

Thanks!

BTW, that 41mm does not look bad on you. Was it more the feel?

That RG 15300 is Gorgeous!

I had two chance on it, but was "wishy-washy" and lost them to another buyer.

The case hangs over my wrist. AP is my favorite brand but they seem to have a prejudiced against people with small wrists. Lol

They should go back to making a 39mm and they should make a 40mm offshore. I just think large luxury watches look bad on people. I had the 44mm ROO for awhile and just couldn’t pull it off.

A 40mm ROO would be outstanding!!

Agreed, the 39mm is perfect. The 37mm is a bit smallish. I can pull it off, but feels dainty.

It took a long time to find this one and I had 3 or 4 people looking for me. I finally was blessed with this one. I love it.

I agree. I tried on the 37mm at the APSC Clearwater as well as a 39mm Jumbo. That’s how I new I wanted the 39mm.

The two I had chances on were months ago. As mentioned leaning toward the 15400.

the strap vs bracelet makes a big difference as well. A 39 on a bracelet vs a 41 on a bracelet would not be as huge of a difference as in your pics. But generally, yes i agree that the 39 fits you better.

I want one too... a 15202

Had a chance on this beast. Was owned for 1 day, previous owner returned it, saying too large. Went to check on it the next day, it was GONE!

Must have had it listed for a good price because those don’t typically move very quickly.

I beg to differ... When I bought my 15202 I had the 15400OR on strap on the table as well. If I'm honest with myself the 15400OR's strap also bowed out and there was serious overhang on my wrist with it - and the bracelet had comparatively less overhang as it folded down more at the plots than the strap did.

I went for the 15202 in the end and that was a choice I do not regret one bit.

As mentioned, I'm new to the AP world so bear with me.

Is the 15202 the Problematic RO, in regards to water resistance?

The 15202 is the extra-thin model. It is "problematic" in respect of water resistance because it is only water resistant to 50m and does not have a screw down crown. I personally don't get mine under running water or go for a swim with it - I have Rolexes for that.

I highly recommend you seek one out and try it on. Fit and wearing comfort are paramount when deciding on a watch. I almost bought the 15400OR because it was the better "deal" (pre-owned, it was going for about $19,500), but I wouldn't have enjoyed wearing it.

So basically, it's the lack of a screw down crown on a 15202 that causes the problem? I know new 41mm screws down.

i don't think the crown has anything to do with it. They are all WR to the same amount so the crown not being a screw down doesn't have any effect on the WR rating.

Ive had non screw down crowns WR to 150m in the past on other watches.

For example, the RO chronograph used to have screw down chronograph pushers and now it doesn't. The WR is the same.

None of the RO are ideal for swimming but it's my opinion that if you want, you could swim in either 15400 or 15202 and not have any issues.

I personally don't swim with anything under 100M.
