One Watch Guys - Input Requested

One watch? I can't wrap my head around that concept. Maybe one star and a supporting cast...One watch collection would imply that on some occasions, I'm not wearing a watch...ex. Not wearing a Patek in the steam room.

It would be like having one pair of shoes.....couldn't do it!

That's a large part of Rolex's appeal to me, because they make go anywhere, do anything watches. That's especially true now that it's become socially acceptable to wear a Rolex with just about any attire.

I could honestly see having a classic DJ on a jubilee as a one and only watch. Pretty much can do anything with that piece.

I follow the desire, but in the end, have decided to be a 3 watch guy:

1. 116610 - SS workhorse and unbelievably comfortable. PM just can't match the comfort or durability. That durability equals freedom to not worry about it. My favorite watch.

2. 116618LB - I call it my Mardi Gras watch. Big, bold, shiny fun. Loud and definitely not under the radar. Not durable enough to do everything in and sometimes a little heavy.

3. 228206 Deep Blue - Sophisticated, yet under the radar. President bracelet is mesmerizing, smooth bezel simple and stylish.

(Have the first 2 and working on trading into the last one - after that, I'm blocking the TRF site address ;)


That being said, If I could have only 1, I would have two options:

1. Keep the 116610 and wear it endlessly. The quintessential Rolex for me...

2. Keep the 116618 and a Casio G-shock.

You get the idea. The key is to decide what is reasonable for you. 3 watch guy is where I want to get to.

I think that's a good plan. If I can trade two for one, I do it - that doesn't include watches given to me as gifts. Trade up as tastes change (with age).

I was a one-watch guy for about 17 years, and that one watch was a 16030 Datejust on a Jubilee bracelet. I have personally owned this piece for 24 years, and it has been on my wrist for most all of the momentous occasions that have occurred in my adult life. I still have it and wear it frequently, and it wears well with a suit or with a tee-shirt and shorts.

As NovaSubowner said, you can pretty much do anything with that watch as a one-watch-only collection.
