Same here. I've got over 15 good watches. I only buy what I like and would never flip any of them.

Been there, done that. To say I'm cured might be a stretch but I have a core group that won't change and in looking back I wish I have the financial wherewithal to have kept them all. Why limit yourself to a number when you can have a giant collection

Just buy 10-20 watches and your good.
At least your money is safe if you buy correctly.

If you can't afford having a six figure collection, then can you really afford flipping over and over again losing money?

I can see both sides of this issue.
In your early days as a Rolex/watch fan you often have a narrower focus than you do several years down the track.
With the benefit of hindsight, maybe you would buy something different if you were starting again.
E.g. I love my Submariner but if I were starting again I would probably have bought a GMT IIC instead.
On another note, I think it is a 'personality thing'. I have friends who constantly 'turn-over' possessions - they need the stimulation - whereas if I like something, I like it for life.

So to use your analogy back into watch terms I guess I have a core wife and 2/3 flippable mistresses.

Same here. There is only one watch in my humble collection that was bought out of the sudden without proper research but even that piece, I'd never flip.

Every other watch has been desired for months or even years. Wanting is more fun than having.

I've wanted a Day Date for 8 years but I won't buy it yet. I am waiting because I want to wait. I could buy it today but I enjoy the waiting so when I buy it, it will be forever.
