Lume on 1675
There is no lume on my 1675 , does that have effect on value?

Yes, people in general (people here, vintage fans) frown upon dials that's had the tritium washed off.

what do you mean by no lume? Like it doesn't glow in thew dark which is normal or there is no luminous mass on the plots, which is not..

Not glowing isn't unusual at all for a watch that age.

Sounds about right! You will be hard pushed to find a dial of that era that still glows

By the way, in looking at your photo, there is lume on your dial, it is called tritium lume and due to its age, it does not glow anymore. Washed dials - which is a very misleading term - indicates to me that someone has removed all the lume which is not very common at all. Those original dials are expensive - $1,000 on up.

Let the gmt like this and look for a 1675 from 1967/68. Some still glow. Difficult to find but not impossible.

Isnt that just a blacklight?
And per Springer above, unless its a luminova you're not going to glow in 2017 -sorry. You also trade that great uniform patina which is a big part of the vintage charm and frankly its pretty easy to get the time elsewhere these days. Luminova may patina at some point but i personally haven't seen it yet. I look at my 1675 a lot. Only about half the time is to check the time! |
