Hallo and welcome to the rolex forum, as far as my knowledge reaches there was never a daytona with any writing on the back case!

I believe these are fakes!

Maybe its a good idea to put up some pictures. Very difficult to make a judgment based on your written description. And indeed, probably a fake, due to the engraving on the back.

Hi,
I can't comment on the watch in question, but I can confirm that Rolex do issue watches to the winners of their sponsored sporting events and they do engrave the caseback.
It is usually quite small basic engraving, but is sometimes enamelled to highlight it is black or red.
I have seen a Panna Polo Champion Cream Explorer II with Red caseback engraving and a Yacht race watch with Black engraving.
I know of a 2001 Daytona winners watch for sale in the UK at present.
Here is a picture of the caseback, which is not enamelled and the watch is Stainless Steel.
I believe the Papers for these watches have no AD stamp they are marked by Rolex as is the case with the one I mention, it is supplied directly by Rolex USA and the papers are marked Rolex NYC.

There certainly is a Rolex Daytona with Winner Le Mans engraved on the back. They are very few and far between. There are a LOT of fakes with this engraved on the back. A genuine one would be a collectors item and would most certainly have all the paperwork. Open it up and have a look inside or post some pix. The fake ones are two a penny and easy to identify.

Rolex´s is just like a orgasm, sometimes they are fake.

Just have the watch open it up, then you will get the answer.

There was a previous post concerning this. Generally speaking, Daytona Winner engravings are fakes. These do actually exist and are presented to the winners of this race and, most notably, are only available in SS. They do not come in any other metals so this white gold one is a fake.

I can't find the previous post but it's very informative if you can hunt it down!

Welcome to TRF!

Maybe you could post some pics of the watch?

Best place to post pics of it would be in the WATCHOUT section.

Fake. There are no 18K Rolex 'winner' watches.
Rolex 'winner' Daytonas are stainless steel.

The 'ad daytona' is also a 'bit' of a giveaway.

Hopefully you did not pay too much for the watch as it is a stone cold fake. The Chinese have problems with our symbols and frequently misspell items. The "AD" is supposed to be "AT" so this is a surefire way to know yours is a fake.

I'm new to the world of Rolex. I just received a SS Daytona with a similar inscription on the back: WINNER Rolex at Daytona 1992 24. Mine actually says AT, not AD. My father says he bought at "a Rolex store" in Dubai and threw away the box and papers so he could wear it thru customs. He swears by its authenticity. I'm still skeptical.

Welcome to TRF.
You may want to consider posting some photos of your watch. After doing so, I am certain that many will jump in and provide with a wealth of information on your watch.

Real Rolex watches cost at least $150, so if you paid less it's probably a fake.

I have a Daytona with the exact same inscription. Everything else that they say to look for its authenticity is there down to the crown etch at the 6 position. So I am confused to my watches authenticity. Have you been able to figure out if yours is.
