Part of it would depend on the watch. EBay and Chrono24 are fine for a general idea, but there is so much junk on both sites. Some good, but a lot not so good. The bad stuff can skew pricing and give a misleading idea of true value.
I’d suggest a more focused search on some good dealer websites. You’ll see only asking prices, of course, but generally the variation is not much off of that. |

I use a local auction place for appraisals, they are approved by my home insurance company for that.

+1 on @Tom1675 suggestion: watchrecon Watchrecon is basically an aggregate of FS/Sold watches that are being offered (or have been offered) for sale on various forums. It's essential that you compare apples to apples so you get a more realistic sense of a particular watch's market value. _____________ Instagram: @onthedial |

I sometimes check Bobs Rolex site. He posts a "buy price" and a "sell price". This sort of demysitfies the whole pricing conundrum for me. I find this to be very helpful in bracketing priceranges based on condition and age.

So what is the difference between a Big Red and a Panda?
What does floating dial mean? |

Big red is daytona printed red
Panda is white dial with black sub dials (like the face of the panda bear) Floating means it does not sink. Just kidding: cosmograph is located 'loose' i.e. not directly under the rest of the text |

I thought I was the only one calling this a bubble... prices are insane... I'm cautiously buying right now as I'm not sure if this is a new "price floor" or a temporary bump...
