Do you care about model number?
514 was on my radar before last night, it is not any more, there are so many other choices anyway. Maybe you'll think this is stupid reason - was talking to one of my Hong Kong friends last night, he happen to be a Panerai fan as well, he said he'll never buy it since 514 pronounced like "I want to die" or "I want Shxxxx" in Catonese.

LOL! For Chinese, no.4 sounds like the Chinese character like die, dead or death, so most if not all numbers ending with 4 may be associated by Chinese as such. So, did you happen to be in Hong Kong, China or Taiwan and noticed that some buildings do not have the 4th Floor, 14th Floor, etc. However, no.8 sounds like fortune and most numbers ending with 8 may be associated with the good.
If Pam is to make a model for the Chinese society and want it be the hot item, it must avoid using numbers ending with 4. Likewise not to use 911 for the America. IMHO. |

There are some superstitions that takes an Asian to understand IMO
Being Brown, I can empathize .. but only to an extent. To me, if given a choice of serial numbers, I may choose something I consider lucky by Numerology but if not, heck !!, I dont give a Damn !! In summary, Superstition is good if it counts as a positive and if it doesnt, I rather break the customs and rules and do what I want. |

Nope. I think the Asian markets care far more about these things. I don't buy or sell there, so no worries.

This is a purely Chinese cultural superstition and should not be confused with an Asian belief as a whole. Personally, I'm of Asian descent but could not have cared less about the number superstition.

Really don't care, on the contrary I wouldn't be against a 911 or 666

I care about what the watch looks like and what its funtions are. After all, the Porsche 911 was originally a 901 and renaming it to 911 didn't change how great it is.
