5500 with 1570 movement?
Hi all,
I recently came across a 5500 fitted with a 1570 movement but from what I learnt from this thread : https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=145728 that there were only two movements fitted in this reference ( 1520 for the precision and 1530 for the super precision ). My question is, is it possible for a 1570 to appear in 5500? Many thanks! Kevin |

as far as I know the 5500 was never fitted with the 1570, as it doesn't have a date feature. Having said that early 5512's had the 1570 movement as far as I can remember and they don't have a date feature either...

Do you have a picture of it? My guess is that you have the correct movement but with an automatic bridge that says 1570.

Didn't Rolex sometimes use calibers that were made to be dates but not having the date wheel put in place?
For example I have a Speed King from 1963, 1 owner before me, that has a cal 1215 movement which is usually seen set up as a date model. Not saying that this has anything to do with your 5500. |
