5-Digit Daydate with Luminova Dials?
Hi there,
First of all many thanks for the wealth of informations found on these forums. I'm scratching my head on this question, and maybe someone there knows the answer : have the Daydate 18238 (that is : double quick, produced between 1988 and 2000) ever been produced with Luminova dials and hands, or only with Tritium ? I know the transition from Tritium to Luminova is around 1998 for sports model, but regarding the Daydate line, did Luminova appeared only on the 118xxx in 2000 or during the end of the production of the 18xxx models ? It's difficult to find photos from A-series 18238 on the web... and even more difficult to know if all dials are the initial ones... Many thanks in advance ! Cheers |

I'm not sure about the transition the Day-Date models left the factory with luminous, but it is possible that a 5 digit reference what fitted with a dial later/newer than its' manufacture after the fact.

The entire Rolex line was changed to Luminova starting in 1998.. It doesn't matter what the reference number at the time was.
Any watches that needed a new service dial after that date were fitted with Luminova dials too.

Thank you!
Is there any preference for the tritium dials because they seem to be much more expensive? I am weighting in on buying a super luminova dial and waiting for one until it pops up on the market even though I have found a tritium dial in good condition.... Not sure if I should just get the tritium one while its still available. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

It could be a service replacement luminova dial.
