Costco armed Robbery Rolex watches stolen

My local Costco was robbed again for the second time in two weeks. Two men wearing hoodies and wearing masks entered the store. One of the men smashed the jewelry case with a hammer and grabbed the merchandise. When a store employee tried to stop him the second suspect fired a gun.

This robbery follows another smash and grab at the same Costco on May 8th. One of the suspects a 21 year old man was tackled by a store employee and pinned to the ground. He was booked on suspicion of robbery. According to police scanner traffic, the suspects got away with two Rolex watches.

Just wanted to remind people to be safe out there.

Costco is going to have to hire armed security if they keep getting hit with Rolex robberies. Right now thieves see an easy target. The jewelry case is usually a stone's throw from the building entrance. Maybe they will reconsider selling high end watches due to the liability.

Well, it's a variation on the usual Costco/Rolex threads...

Well surely there was a video at the entrance of the robbers showing their Costco membership cards.

Is this particular thread duplicate reportage of a Rolex-related theft that appeared earlier in Open Discussion? Or did Costco get hit again?

Wow that's crazy.

A Jeweler in my area that sells second hand Rolexes (They also have a Turdor / Breitling / Omega accounts) was hit with professional robbery of sorts. It was in Naples Florida right on 5th Avenue (very high end affluent area) in broad daylight.

5 guys road up on crotch rockets parked right in front of the store, held everyone up with guns and made off with over 60 watches from the case and what they had in the back. The guy that works there told me they were pros and were in and out in less than 3 minutes (not sure if he was exaggerating.)

He said they were running like a well oiled machine and definitely knew what they were doing. I was like "ah man that sucks I'm sorry to hear that, at least no one was hurt." He responded with "Meh, it's okay, we had a great month because everything was insured, so we were kind of happy. Of course if someone were injured it would have been a different story, but we weren't crying about it." I thought that was a really crazy thing to say to a customer.

I talked to two other ADs in the area about what happened and they both suspect that it was an inside job. I guess they know the guys who run the business and wouldn't be surprised.

Crazy stuff.
