Rolex Blue Submariner, all stainless, aftermarket face/bezel - thoughts?
Hello everyone, I'm new here - like many I am Rolex owner (Daytona), enthusiast and looking to learn more.
I had a question on the Rolex Blue Submariner - all stainless (not SS/Gold) - obviously these are Rolex black dial subs customized to blue w/blue ceramic bezel. Definitely draws my interest! Love the looks of the watch, but it does bring into question the authenticity (being customized) and overall perception since it's been altered. I know one drawback is can't get it serviced by Rolex as they will most likely say it's been altered. Then the question of authenticity overall - how would I know for sure genuine Rolex aside from aftermarket alterations? I noticed a number of the sellers of these blue sub watches thru eBay are all in L.A. - - not sure if there is any correlation with that or not? Most have flawless feedback and seem to have good references/credentials. Hard to be sure, move forward with total confidence. Curious the thought here from the folks on this forum? I'd hate to go about this blissfully unaware - I would definitely value opinions here. Many thanks! Ed |

I like the look of some yes, if tastefully done....BUT.....I want a Rolex to be a Rolex not a franken watch. You would not buy a Ferrari and put aftermarket rims or other things like that. Just my 2 cents. U like the blue could do the white gold with blue face.

Post photos, many here can tell you immediately.
As far as Rolex is concerned - aftermarket is counterfeit. They wont touch it!

I like 'em straight off the production line, just as HW intended, but each to their own, if you like to customise, customise away, just post some photos so some can envy, and some can laugh!

Blue Sub All Stainless
Thanks for the replies! Makes me wonder since there is an interest/demand for a stainless (not white gold at 3x the price) blue submariner, why doesn't Rolex produce one without need for aftermarket customization?
Here are a few links for what I was talking about... (and again, if you notice, most of these guys are in LA. Not that there's anything wrong w/that, but seems that most/all these aftermarket customization's are in So Cal for whatever reason) http://www.ebay.com/itm/MENS-ROLEX-S...kAAOSwuMZZDNVQ http://www.ebay.com/itm/40mm-Blue-Ro...QAAOSwlndZCRAJ http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rolex-Submar...UAAOSwGIRXaJCe |

Pics/links
Thank you for the replies! Makes me wonder if there is such a market for the 'customized' blue submariner all stainless (not whit gold at 3x the cost) why doesn't Rolex produce them?
Anyway, here are a few links to what I was referring to. Interesting that most are all in LA/So Cal. Not that there is an issue with that in it of itself, but might expect you'd see a few other examples in other places? http://www.ebay.com/itm/40mm-Blue-Ro...QAAOSwlndZCRAJ http://www.ebay.com/itm/MENS-ROLEX-S...kAAOSwuMZZDNVQ http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rolex-Submar...UAAOSwGIRXaJCe http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rolex-Submar...3D142024430028 |

Update
Sorry for the previous dupe, my bad - didn't think first reply went through.
Kicking around a few ideas for the last couple months, decided to go to local Rolex AD today to inspire, look over stock .. ended up getting a new GMT Batman. Good deal, better than I would have anticipated going in. The idea of the aftermarket changes on the pre-owned Submariners didn't quite sit well. I know common for some to customize, just couldn't reconcile. Happy w/new watch! Thanks for insights/feedback. |
