That's what I said...

The pics did show the condition though, but glad it's being worked out.

Sorry to hear that.
As one of PP collectors, perfection is always concerned...
Just like other suggestions, try for a refund anyway.
Good luck fellow!

Agreed! Congrats in advance. 5164 is my favorite modern sports watch. So useful. So sexy.

Agreed, but glad the seller is taking it back and sourcing another one.

Mike, just curious, did you trade your 5167 for the 5164 with this seller?

Glad to hear you're having it worked out. I'd be very disappointed as well. I'm a bit surprised the seller didn't notice the lume issue as well. Who did you buy it from?

Good it's being changed for a mint one, I would have been crazy buying and being stuck with such a watch...

Excellent resolution, glad to hear it worked out with the seller.

I would be livid if I received a watch like that... it's pretty clear there were some serious problems if the dial was corroded like that (I wonder how corroded the movement is too).

I was about to pick up another piece last night, but just as the seller was counting the cash, I noticed a pretty serious flaw in the watch that I had to unwind the whole deal. I always like having a chance to inspect the watch before handing over the money, so I dodged a bullet this time!

Perhaps even get your money safe in your account. When a another becomes available do a new transaction for the new deal.

Whew! Glad the seller made good. I agree that it would be wiser to get a refund and then when the seller comes up with another one in superb condition, hand over the money.

Hope you find a replacement very soon

Kudos to the seller for standing up. Refined pieces like PP or AP require a careful look and inspection right away at point of purchase. Hope all works out ok. Oh, I forgot, 5164 looks awesome on you!

Totally agree, and defects must be stated clearly, pics are never reliable. Glad to see TRF working well as an arbiter and keeping seller's honest.

Very odd that it wasn't noted on the original sale as it's a pretty glaring defect. Glad it's getting resolved. You're going to love the watch!

If the OP didn't start this thread I'm not sure the seller would have come through. Not too sure how much credit we should give the seller.

OP you should get a refund. What if the seller takes half a year to source another one?

Bummer to hear this one had some major issues. I recently saw two listings for this reference that both labled the watch as mint and I'm pretty sure yours is one of them. I'm glad the seller is rectifying the problem, albeit reluctantly. I'm just surprised the obvious condition wasn't fully disclosed in the listing.

All is well that ends well. When you get your mint 5164 you'll be rocking one of the coolest Pateks out there!

Thanks everyone for the support and recommendations. The seller is coming through and showing support to get this fixed asap. I'll let everyone know how everything unfolds.

Looks like the lume fell out in spots. Happened on my Aqua on the number 1 in hour indicator 10. What is curious is that on mine you could easily see the lume that had fallen out still between the dial and the crystal. On yours i have a feeling somone might have 'cleaned' the dial of the loose lume bits.

Am glad you got it sorted out.

Sorry but I’d be getting a full reversal on the deal and having my 5167 back. I know they’re getting you another 5164 but you’ve put the ball in their court, and I would be super anxious about that. What’s wrong with just getting everything back to square one and waiting for a new 5164 to arrive with the seller. Then they send you photos and you do another deal.

I would expect a full refund and the right to consider any of the sellers future offerings or any other sellers wares.

That dial is bad....and I would not like to see the movement.

I agree with this as well. Selling and expensive watch for an OK deal yet sight unseen is very unprofessional in my opinion. He initially suggested that you probably should have noticed the lume defects from the photos but I would suggest that it is his responsibility to 1) get better photos (thaise that were posted were fairly poor) and 2) inspect the watch personally before he lists it and ships it out as mint condition.

As others have said, I would unwind the trade and get my money back. Give him a chance to come through and redeem his reputation with you but in the meantime, you are looking for another piece yourself or through someone here.

Either way, I hope it works out for you and we look forward to pics with your new "perfect" watch.

Why are you buying this watch through a middleman? Walk into an AD and buy it brand new with a solid discount.

5164A could be found in ADs north of London without much of a problem. I have seen it in quite a few ADs.
