SubC40mm vs. SubC41mm

I own an 114060 SubC 2019 and love the watch. I have an option to buy at retail an 124060 (the 41mm no date Sub) from a Rolex AD and probably will buy it. You can’t go wrong with either one but which one would you keep or would you keep both and why? Tough choices but I would appreciate your input.

The difference in size is negotiable myself have no need for extra power reserve as I still have the use off my fingers to wind the watch if necessary. And there is still a few problems with the 32 series movement so I would keep the trusted 114060.

Personally I wouldn't keep both. If you're probably going to buy it anyway, just decide after some wrist time.

I'd keep both as well and buy another 5 digit and then 4 if I could.

Which problems? Would you care to elaborate a bit on this, please? Thanks in advance.

I'd keep both because to 40mm is now discontinued but that's me.

I never owned the 11, but had the occasion to wear one numerous times. I purchased my 126610 just last week. IMHO, the 41MM does not make a huge difference in over all size, but, the new case wears very different. Personally, I like the way it sits on my wrist as compared to the older.

Just MHO

in due time the now hated 40mm will be sought after, just like any discontinued Rolex.

DO NOT KEEP BOTH. No reason to have both of them. I had the 114060 and traded it on for the 124060. The watch is a big improvement. It wears so much more comfortable. The bracelet looks like to belongs with the watch. Do it now while the value is higher on the 114060. You will not be disappointed!

I had the same conundrum and I decided to give the 114060 to my wife :chucke:

If you love what you have in the 11 series, why not just get something different instead of a 12 series sub? Or put the money somewhere else?

Fair question. Because what I’d really like to add is the White or Black dial steel Daytona. My AD says it’s impossible to get and I won’t pay pre-owned prices. My only deviation from Rolex is the Omega Speedy Moonwatch. I was thinking about the new SubC to pass to my children. The 11 series wears well daily.

I would keep the 114060, I like it better. The new Sub will be easy to sell with a premium, get yourself something else!

Many different views! My AD told me the Daytona was not accessible. Don’t want to purchase this watch pre-owned at a premium. Already own a Datejust and an Omega Speedy. Could look at other brands but every time I’m back to Rolex.

Consensus appears to be keep what makes you happy.

Listen to the ones like me that was literally in your situation. Trade it in, will basically owe nothing for a brand new upgraded watch with better proportions and a brand new warranty. Don’t miss my large lug 114060 one bit. 124060 is the best watch I ever owned.

Keep your discontinued sub. You have a decade or more to change your mind.

114060 is the one to keep IMHO. They will only go up in value, and IMO are the last true iteration of a 40mm submariner.

Keep both now and sell the one you like the least a year from now.
