Looking for an Ultra Thin RO for my 50th!?

Hi gents. Long time collector, been out of the game for while. Looking to buy myself an ultra thin RO for my 50th birthday. The first piece which comes to mind is the classic 15202ST. Although, I do have a 15202OR. I’ve also owned a 5402 in the past. Steel or Yellow preferred.

I have a very thin, 6” wrist. 39mm seems to be my sweet spot. 37mm not for me as my wife wears 36-37mm. I have yet to try on the “new” 41mm RO variants. That’s how old I am.. and how long it’s been since I’ve stepped foot inside the NYC Boutique. Is Johnny still there? Little do I know the 41mm variants have probably been out for a decade and are the new size all the hip millennials wear. Guess I need to try one on, I just have a feeling it will be too big. The 15500 dials look gigantically wide compared to the 15202 in picture comparisons. What do I know, I’m just an old soul.

Any ultra thin perpetual calendar models? Any other interesting/unique models one can think of? The thinner, the better. Budget is robust. I have plenty of time to search. Looking forward to the comments, thanks guys.

Titanium and potentially PT also an option (although very heavy for my wrist).

How about a 50th anniversary 16202 given it's your 50th?

I’m assuming you’re planning on purchasing from grey, so going to 47th street, for example, to try pieces on will be helpful. But I suspect you are correct about the 41mm pieces being really big on the wrist.

Also, the new 41 mm are much thicker than the older 41 mm references.

There’s a titanium and platinum (bezel and center links) extra thin perpetual calendar I recently saw that sounds a lot like what you’re searching for.
Sounds like it will be a fun hunt.
Keep us updated on what you’re looking at!

Would be special enough for your birthday (at least it would mine!)

Identical dimensions to the 15202 or redesigned? Enlighten me on the new reference! Thanks.

Bought numerous pieces from the Boutique ages ago. Have zero relevant current history. Doubt I could obtain a RO in today’s unfortunate climate. Good idea, 47th has everything and anything to just touch and try on.

Interesting, I didn’t know that was the case.
I’m guessing that the 41mm pieces replaced the 39mm ones, but if possible please shed more light on when the 41mm pieces changed in thickness… perhaps it was with the introduction of the 50th Anniversary models (which also included the thinner bracelets).

Big change was from 15400 to 15500 - 9.8mm to 10.4mm. 15500 to 15510 adds another 0.1mm.

Plain dial 41mm looks silly on 6 inch wrist... obvious choice for 50th birthday would be a special 50 birthday Jumbo if you are ok spending quarter of a million for platinum or 20% les on yg model...

Beauties! These 50th Anniversary 16202’s were made for only one year in 2022 in 4 metals? Besides the “50th Anniversary” rotor is there any difference between them versus a now standard production 2023 16202 PT, YG, RG and ST?

My favorite post 5402 Jumbo is probably the 15202IP combining both titanium and platinum. Love that dial and the mirror polished platinum bezel.

Next up on my list would be the salmon dial 14802ST and 15202BC.

I think I'd also prefer the old movement over the new one in the 16202 for "romantic" reasons despite no quickset date.

Just the rotor (and the anniversary certificate). And the 16202PT is discontinued.

15202IP is great. So many variations of 15202 and 16202 to choose from, which is a positive. But negatively, it loses some cachč given so many different examples available. I can’t keep track of them all!

I agree, 15202 is nostalgic!

Thanks. I see there is also a 15202PT released just before the 16202PT.. identical watch, one just newer reference and “50th Anniversary”. Which would you choose and why?

16202 also has the new quick set movement (7121). All else equal, I'd prefer the newer model. If I wanted a 2121, I'd go 5402. And finally, if going grey for a Jumbo, I'd go for a salmon dial 15202BC.
