I’ve had worse mornings- Incoming

I slept in this morning and woke up to my wife setting this on my chest. My first AP. Waited about 6 weeks after getting an allocation. It can be done, guys!

Congrats on the addition and your first AP. I think the Silver dial will only gain in popularity. Wear in good health!

Wow, incredible. I've been waiting months for my first AP. Hopefully, I'm able to get one this year.

I’m sitting here trying to enjoy a nightcap and this almost made me snort it up.

Boutique is the closest answer. A family friend, who has far more history with the brand than I do, introduced me to a woman who is high up in the AP infrastructure and she put me in touch with a man from their “Miami team” who really came through for me. I don’t think he’s affiliated with any particular store but I could be wrong.

To everyone else- thanks for the good wishes. I’m over the moon. Now just debating wether to use it as an excuse to get myself to NY or Vegas for a weekend to get it sized or dive in and do it myself. I’m handy in general, the technicals don’t bother me, but I worry about scuffing the new bracelet and whatnot…
Anybody with experience want to weigh in?

Congrats! Wear it in the greatest of health!

That said, I do want to point out that the fact that it took a family friend with extensive history with AP to introduce you to someone high up in AP Corporate who then introduced you to a man from their "Miami team" who hooked you up after 6 weeks... Is a bit broken.

Am I the only one who thinks this retail experience is broken?

Absolutely agree.

I’ve wanted to get into AP for a few years but because I live nowhere near any of their shops considered it largely pointless. And I’m no whale/vip person. It’s crazy what can happen when you genuinely compliment someone’s watch and they want to talk about it.

Unfortunately, not everything that is broken has an easy fix. Presumably AP will continue to moderately increase output, but it appears that at the moment there just aren't enough watches to satisfy the demand by those who fancy themselves actual/budding collectors.

Of course. In fact, nothing is ever easy.

I just don't see anyone caring to even remotely attempt fixing any of this.

Yeah, AP is hardly the gold standard here. Come on, you can do better, Mr. Bennahmias.

Sizing is no problem. No different than a Rolex. If you think you’re going to scratch it then don’t bother but if you have a set of bergeon screwdrivers and this isn’t your first rodeo then move ahead. Nothing out of the ordinary.
