Icon7 Excellent customer service initial contact with an AD and making priority lists

I called one of the more renowned, established ADs in Australia. I wanted to confirm opening days and times, just to be certain.

I spoke to someone who worked in the AD, absolute gem of a gentleman. Completely informative, I posed a couple of questions which probably would not have a definite answer, but he said let me speak to the manager to confirm the information for you.

It was a short phone conversation, I was up front and honest, advised I would be in the local area between this.. and that... at no point did he ask for my contact details. Just commented to look forward to seeing me when I arrive.

Complete opposite experience to the local AD I visited a few weeks ago.

Only on two other occasions have I experienced customer service this level or higher. Being involved in a customer-focused environment, I am familiar with various forms of approach, tone of voice.

I do value a good level of customer care, which normally win my business.

Distance usually is not the most important factor. I will still need to wait till the time I can get there, but for now, just have to stay healthy, and if these last 9 months went rather quickly, the next 2-3 should not take much longer.

I have spent the last 4 weeks looking around for time pieces, some models,
and what I do know is what is available or unavailable now could be quite different in months time. Prices may change too. Just looking forward to it.

I hope I end up broke finding everything that I am looking for ?

(kidding). Our local area is nearly infinitely quieter than the other states, so maybe waiting 4 months is still being impatient, but another few more months hopefully there will be more availability. I should be able to acquire at least 1 time piece, despite I have at least 3 brands on my radar.

Apologies this is either something you heard before, it is just a rare event to get a pleasant initial contact from an AD. Most of their stores do not have a complete accurate account of their stock, some offer to buy from online.

I cannot do that, I need to look at the time piece, pick it up, really examine it. When I explained that to the AD staff, he agreed that he completely understood my point.

I hope you all have had a wonderful purchase experience at an AD. Ok I am willing to listen to you who rate that it's overrated, any feedback on an AD purchase is welcome. To be clear, I will not be interested in another Rolex.

There is really nothing from the 2022 range that I be inclined to get, or even to express interest. The pieces I would consider are discontinued and on my extreme low priority list.

I am interested to know if you make priority lists ? A list of 5 that you already made ? or is that list more than 5 ? set a time period you would like to complete the list ? 5 years, 10 years ? 20 ?

yes, similar post, but have you made a priority list ?

Well no more pieces you are interested in ? I will have to double check if my list is 5. I do want to get dials of specific colors that I do not currently already have.

Just going through my draws, I found 2 Seikos that I owned for over 25 years, I can't believe at last one of them is still ticking haha.

Pity the glass is cracked badly.

That's quite the long post for just a phone call. The guy who pumped my gas the other day was very pleasant, and even did a great job cleaning my windshield, but I didn't feel the need to blog it.

wow full of trolls hey?

TLDR ? what the posts need to be 2 sentences long ? too hard to sit long enough to go beyond that.

If it goes beyond a paragraph, just move onto the next post there are plenty of others to choose from.

No idea what a priority list is ? you make a list of time pieces you are after.

I'm after A, B, C... a list of 3 time pieces I am after. That is a list.

Keep stirring that cup.

Oh no… hmm

You have to think this problem does not stop only with luxury watches and at ADs. High performance and/or luxury vehicles. Some folks of a certain status could walk in nearly anywhere and snap up anything that want without the constraint of waiting.

There is the no don’t scratch an itch and get settle for something else vs… ok it has been 3 years now, cut those losses getting something else or somewhere else.

It must feel disheartening to visit a shop that don’t even have the current range of time pieces that you cant register your interest in.

Every AD must have every model at least for display.

Any member who joined the forum over 10 year ago and has posted just 254 times, perhaps was saving up comments to make a post of 15 paragraphs?

I wish you luck Bling and expect to see some pix of your Rolex watches soon.

Just a quick question.

What does this mean?

“The pieces I would consider are discontinued and on my extreme low priority list”.

Discontinued model?

Hi well discontinued, meaning models which are not in the 2022 catalog, which makes up for 99%.

I was going to say, something I cannot get at an AD, but good luck getting 2022 time pieces in 2022.

I recently found a youtube video of Teddy Baldassarre, where he pays a visit to the largest AD at the Bucherer flagship in NY, will need to find out if it outshines the flagship store in Milan.

Z's and Plains, your opinion matters less than... the least thought possible.

Must have a lot of spare time to have such an invested interest in how much someone writes. There you go, short enough for you without invoking another loss of patience?

If you want discontinued models why are you visiting AD’s?

You need a second hand store?

It was from me, just a friendly comment, and I did understand your post.

I would also like to see all the Rolex models of watches displayed in the windows of ADs, I'm ready to buy, but there's nothing to have 'off the shelf', and as for earlier 'discontinued' watches..... Well, my very first rolex was purchased, not because it had a different coloured bezel, meteorite dial, or was nicknamed 'Kermit', or 'Polar'! But because it was stainless steel, had a screw in back, and was completely waterproof with it's screw down crown...... nothing more than that!

Also trying to get OP points here lol what is the one piece you try to acquire, what is the one model that is discontinued, what are the 3 other brands in your mind - maybe tell us bit more specific to drive the discussions :)

why on hold

Hi, well I am delighted for, and envious of the other person who waited 8 years not without persistent contact to finally be rewarded with the time piece. Amazing.

6-7 years ago I vested a high interest in a two-tone, a 2007 or so dial (electric blue), not the 2008 (more navy blue matt). Would of had to break the piggy bank to get it back then. By now I would have to pay 2 to 3 times the price. Also there are many other stunning blue dial alternatives. Now that I have stumbled across Tudor. No it's not a Rolex.

I still need to actually see the piece, maybe going to be 2-3 years before that will be possible. There's literally 5 Tudors in the ADs, 4 of them are smaller than 39 mm which is too small for me, and not interested in anything sparkly in any dial.

The bronze dials that Patina, sounds most interesting.

I will travel to another city that has more than 5 pieces in the AD haha early next year.
