Never seen this before hmm...

He has a 1960's Rolex blank Guarantee paper, he states...

AUTENTIC NEW OLD STOCK 1965 ROLEX GMT 1675 MEN WATCH GUARANTEE BLANK PAPER

Please note this auction is for orignal ROLEX 1965 blank guarantee paper only

It can use for any 60's Rolex daytona, submariner,GMT or explorer watch.

You can't buy a 1960's Rolex and then use this guarantee, right, they only last a year.

I haven't seen this before, but then again, I'm still new to Rolex. Deep inside, I don't think its real though.

So I told him you can't sell an old warranty and here was his response...

Hi my friend,
I don't know why you need to do that. Please let me know what do you want? Is there any problem for my auction?
This is my frist time to sell this orignal paper.
I hope you don't interrupt my auction!

Many Thanks,
Tomy

it looks legit..... these papers are hard to come by.....

and when they do.. go for upwards of usd2,000..........

blank doesnt mean counterfeit..... its just not filled up and hence complete or raise the value of yr watch to more than what the papers costs.... same like some new watches sold w/o it being filled up...

1675 w/o b/p wld fetch approx usd6,000

1675 with b/p cld fetch approx usd10,000

1675 with b/p and service records, wld fetch appprox usd12,000 and more.

That looks like a genuine warranty paper from the 60's, but they are being counterfeited by the criminal elements.

My issue with this auction is first he shows a Rolex in the ad, so that will confuse a bidder, then he states...

It can use for any 60's Rolex daytona, submariner,GMT or explorer watch.

To me he is saying you have a valid warranty, which it's not.

He is misrepresenting the item, he should state it is not valid and Rolex will not honor this warranty, this is for collectible purposes only.

The high bidder may think they are getting a Rolex and they won't.

Here is his latest response, he knows he has been caught...

Dear rusty974,

Hi my friend,
If I sell the fake item. You can report it.But I sell the real Rolex item.I don't know why you must be need to report it.I know the rolex company no any reason can contact ebay to cancel the auction if the other person report it.
I can't correct the description now because the other bidder has placed a bid.
Please my friend,I really hope you don't do that.
Please my friend.
Thanks for your help.
Tomy

Where is the Terrynator

I did report it myself and explained in detail why this auction was misleading.

New email -

He wrote back again....

Dear rusty974,

Hi,
I don't know why you have a lot of time to check the ebay item. Are you come from Rolex company? So many person sell the gaurantee or warrenty on ebay. Will you check it all and report it?
You are a interest man.
Tomy

Well after enough pressure he ended it, but he ended it to the highest bidder, so someone is going to pay $3,050 for a piece of paper probably thinking they won a watch, I emailed the seller and explained what they won.

rolex74, I'm sure the buyer knew he was getting an old, not valid, blank, warranty paper. They are quite valuable these days. Besides, a Rolex warranty, until recently, was valid for 1 year. A 60's warranty would not be a valid warranty paper, no matter how it is completed or filled in by someone.

Had the auction stated it was for collecting purposes and if the auction didn't have a Rolex in the photos I would have been fine with it, but the auction was misleading, honestly at first I thought it was for the watch, then I emailed him asking for a serial number and he told me it was for a certificate and that was all.

granted to a certain extend it is misleading....

that is if you didnt read the header/descriptions properly although you are abt to plonk down a few g's to the other side of the globe.....

also it only had that 2 pics of the gmt tt out of the 12 pics that he posted. wld you buy a watch based on 2 pics? the rest shows close up sections of the guarantee paper....

the auction header does say "1965 ROLEX GMT 1675 MEN WATCH GUARANTEE BLANK PAPER"

plus the description did state that "Please note this auction is for orignal ROLEX 1965 blank guarantee paper only"

p/s- i really appreciate efforts by some of you guys in trying to warn the community abt fakes... but let's just keep it at that... spotting fakes and keeping them off ebay...

rolex74, i wld sure like to see what you've posted to the seller as well to be fair, instead of just posting his replies... if thats not too much of a request....

I feel it was a fair call by the seller, even if his English wasn't perfect, it was understandable, not misleading. No-one bids on an image only, for a few $k....do they ?

cheers

Like it or not, winner may "legitimate" a 150$ fake to become a $10000 (or more) watch. That and a few stolen pics, and that's it.

I did report this to E-Bay for the following reasons:

The guy's English was atrocious and difficult to understand.

He shows a picture of a watch in two of his pictures which could imply that the watch is included in the sale.

I encouraged E-Bay to contact the winner and advise him that the watch was not included in the sale.
