STOLEN ROLEX WATCHES - Australia

Hi guys,

Well, it's been a bad weekend!

Friday 27 June 2014, some @#$% kicked in the front door of my home...literally...and stole four of my much loved watches.

Wanted to put the details up so at least there is a record on the web if someone sees or hears of them.

Details:

Rolex Submariner 16613 - Two tone bluey and band fitted with glidelock clasp. Serial: Z068644

Rolex GMT Master 1675 - pointed guards on jubiliee bracelet, small arrow hand - Serial 1106379 (and my sadest loss).

Rolex DateJust 116233 - Two tone 36mm grey face with diamond markers. Serial: Z956310

Rolex DateJust 178273 - Two tone 31mm white face with stick markers. Serial: V531235

I have of course reported the theft of these and the other items to police. Unfortunately the insurance doesn't even come close...

Would appreciate any thoughts on how I can ensure that these #$%^@ get caught and can't on sell them :

The best way to proceed is to go with the police report to a Rolex AD and give the serial numbers.
I managed to get my watch back after one year!

I'm very sorry to hear that, What a nightmare of a weekend you've had.
From reading other posts here on this subject before you should take your police report that you have filed and contact Rolex HQ to report it stolen. The serial number will be put into their database and if it should ever be handed in for a service you will be contacted. Also, you could contact all local pawn shops and let them know what has happened and ask them to keep an eye out. They won't want to be buying stolen goods either so may be of some help. Keep an eye on Ebay and any local sales sites like Gumtree or Craigs List etc.
I don't know what else you can do but others may have some better ideas.

Reported to police and will speak to RSC tomorrow about registering the serials with them.

Yep, have toured around my local pawn shops and have dropped them off a flyer and even have offered a reward. Feedback from most of them is that as soon as a Rolex comes through the door, their antenna goes up and they are immediately concerned around the probity of the watch... Will keep an eye on eBay etc too, good idea.

Would think it isn't easy to 'move' these sorts of items as they are so identifiable...especially my 1675 - as there can't be too many of them out there...

Thanks David, I'm gutted...and more significantly, the kids and wife are scared.

These #$%^%$#s ransacked the place and even my little kids rooms that are clearly just that...emptying toy jewellery boxes, draws, wardrobes...everything...took hours to clean up after them

This is just terrible. The stolen watches are horrible, just hope you and your family can get over the emotional burden. Just try and convey to the kids, these people are long gone and won't ever do this again

We had a similar situation when I was a kid... My dad's watch collection was taken at the time and they left no stone unturned to get anything else.

It's terrible, but thankfully nobody was home. The kids will get over it soon.

One tip if I may- don't discuss getting the watches back or catching the guys in front of the kids. It'll keep their minds on it. The less they're reminded, the better in my opinion.

Good luck getting the watches back! You've taken the right steps- and I've heard many accounts of returned Rolex watches.

Rolex always check the serial number of the watch when it is serviced.
They collaborate closely with the police.
I really hope you will get your watches back soon.

Just horrible...don't give up. A few years ago a member posted that after ten years he recovered his watch. When it was stolen he made a police report and gave the serial numbers to Rolex. I cannot remember if the watch ended up at a pawn shop or at an RSC but wherever it was it was flagged as stolen and returned to the rightful owner.

Too bad for the person that bought it (perhaps not knowing it was stolen), but that's how it goes when you buy a watch without knowing where it came from.

I am so sorry to hear this. Did they take much else or were they only aiming for cash and jewellery. I know there was a thread warning people to switch off the gps tags on their photo's. Theives can poke around on forums retrieving location info on pics of expensive watches.
Looks like you have covered all the bases on passing the word on the stolen watches. I just hope they turn up in the near future. The most important thing is your family, the memories of this incident will stay for while. Such a shame these mindless scumbags do this to honest hard working people.

Even with a monitored alarm system in my house, reading this type of report makes me think maybe I'm not all that paranoid keeping my watches in a safe. This could happen to anyone regardless of location.

This sucks Ian...so sorry to hear this...if only we could have 10 mins alone with these brave AH's....it sounds like you were not in so thats good in a way.

I found mine for sales in one...police took it into custody...Now I'm being sued for its return by the pawn shop as the law protects these Guys...i live in Florida the Pawn shop is in California...the law is an ass!

Hi all, I'm feeling overwhelmed with the support from you and sincerely thank you all for your thoughts and best wishes...a huge THANK-YOU!

Discovered from the police that there were a total of 9 burglaries in my immediate area between Friday and Saturday...so sounds like I may not have been specifically targeted. So imagine their surprise when they came across my goodies...:-(((

Re insurance - discovered that there is a general maximum coverage for watches and jewellery unless specific pieces are individually specified (and of course paid a premium for) and unfortunately this amount is a mere pittance of the value of the watches.

We live and learn and the main thing is that none of my family was hurt (physically anyway) and things can always be a lot worse. At the end of the day, watches can of course be replaced...whereas our health and welfare is paramount and irreplaceable.
