In house movement at less than half the price of a Submariner?

Hell yes!

You and I have the same piece, yet they look so very different. This is one of the aspects I love about this watch, besides how gorgeous it is.

I have a friend who, essentially, doesn’t have to worry about the price difference between Rolex and Tudor. He’s buying Tudors because he can read the time easier. I guess it’s the bigger hands on the Tudor.

I admit I can’t get over the “but it’s not a Rolex” feeling. And, that’s not just with Tudor. We have two Pateks in the family (used to be more) and I still prefer Rolex.

wow to some of these comments

I love both brands a lot - I just happen to have more tudor than rolex in the collection at present

I agree the finish on most rolex models is a step above tudor but it is increasingly a narrowing gap and the differences are not justifying 3 times the price difference

I also just want to say rolex is a great brand but not a great watch in the way say a Patek is a great brand AND a great watch for example. do some members have an inflated view of the quality of the rolex line up?

I love my Tudors. I have Rolex and Tudor and Tudor is a great brand not a wannabe, related yet stands on its own. I never bought a Tudor as a fill in or stepping stone to big brother. I'm looking to my next purchase which will be number three in the Tudor stable. I'm a big fan for their style..

Stick around here a while and you might learn the answer. Read up on Tudor. For me, I like watches........not just a brand. Tudor hits a sweet spot for me.

I'm glad you are here. Join in the fun of reading and learning about Tudor (and Rolex).

Because you get more watch per dollar with a Tudor.

Sure Rolex watches are a step above Tudor in terms of quality but is a Submariner really $4,150 better than a Pelagos? Is a GMT-Master II $4,550 better than a Black Bay GMT?

trying to do research on Tudor and seems that historically they havent achieve much.

on the other hand Rolex has very extensive history of achievements. etc.

You can't go wrong either way. I own both. Rolex does everything right and you pay for it. Tudor in general are great watches but are "younger" in my eyes. Tudor are chunkier but have a fashion all their own. I have:

Tudor North Flag
Rolex Sub C
Rolex Explorer

I wear them all.

Rolex is very set in their ways. Tudor isn’t afraid to take risks.

Tudor is a solid brand and a strong value.

Why wouldn't people be drawn toward the Tudor line of watches?

The fact that Tudor makes some damn good-looking watches might have something to do with it also.

Here is but one.

By the way, I have five Rolex and four Tudor watches.

Some of the people on here are such clowns haha... buy what you like. Ascetically the watches have some similarities, but ultimately it comes down to what you like. If your dying for a modern sub a black bay not not cut it, not because of the quality but because the watches are different. We all know that Rolex makes amazing watches but part of that 8k is for the name. Don't get caught up in the nonsense, people get big heads because the forum picks favorites. No one in the real world gives a s@#! that you have a Rolex or Tudor, buy what speaks to you.

Rolex are overengineered tool watches

Tudor are not.

Tudor are closer to what Rolex use to be.

I own a couple of older Tudor chronographs and they feel just as well made as my Daytona white 116500, I actually feel the sunburst dials are more attractive. They come with Rolex crowns and a Rolex case back, I know the Tudor movement isn't made by Rolex but have the respected Valjoux 7750. I'm not a huge fan of the any of the recent Tudors except for the Back Bays particularly the new GMT which I prefer to the ceramic Rolex blue/red. It may be the Aluminium bezel similar to the 16710 which draws me in.

Apart from the noise made from time to time by the modified 7750 Valjoux in my pre-tiger Tudor chrono 79270, I see strictly no difference in quality with my Rolex GMT Master 16700.

Weren't they made by the same people at the same place, by the way? (apart from the movement I guess).

Rolex vs Tudor

Because Rolex ruined their sports models with the Maxi-case. Except for the Explorer. So I have an Explorer but Rolex still can't match the new . They also don't have a movement better than what is in it.

Because Tudor make really beautiful and high end tool watches, are directly descended from Rolex, are more playful with their designs than their big Brother but are at a cheaper price point?

There's many valid reasons why anyone should choose a Tudor over a Rolex.
