Still the 11 but the 12 is gaining on it for me.

If I wasn’t able to flip it I’d pick the one that will still be relevant in a decade. Whichever one you think that is will be the correct choice.

5712 is my all-time favorite watch. Stunning dial, which somehow looks balanced, despite its asymmetric layout. The most useful complication (power reserve), along with the most beautiful complication (moon phase). Sleek and sporty at the same time. The 240 movement is mind blowing. What else to expect of a timepiece? I would just hope to add a 5712R as a sibling to my 5712A. Having said that, I also own and love the white 5711.

I think that's true with one exception. It depends on the person who's getting the watch. Plain dials appeal to me much more. At my age I need bifocals or actually reading glasses to see up close. Just hate wearing glasses so I only do so when I absolutely have to. Funny I don't mind sunglasses but just hate looking at different areas on a pair of glasses just to read when I don't need them for far away.

Anyway after a few nice watches with intricate dials I just found the details frustrating because I couldn't really see them.

Anyway I also find the dial on the 5712 a bit unbalanced and unattractive.

Bottom line is to know yourself and determine for yourself what appeals to you most. Your more like to enjoy and keep whichever one you choose more than something someone else chooses for you.

Good Luck.

Like many, the 5711 is what initially drew me into the Nautilus line. Over a short bit of time, that changed and I quickly fell hard for the 5712. The "controlled chaos" of the dial is like nothing else I've seen and makes it a truly unique watch. Tyler's and nyc2la's photos (on here and IG) also really fuel my fire on getting one.

Also, as someone with a few SS Rolex models already, I'd prefer my first move into to Patek to include more than just a time/date function. Looking forward to the day when I can finally have one in my collection!

5711 vs 5712

5712 hands down, not even close...even with the 5711 hype.

I’d go for the 5711. Less really is more, in this instance.

Easy the original design of Genta 5711 Blue! Simple and Classic!
Price both even if same. Still pick 5711 Blue!

While the 5712 is obviously a great watch, 5711 all day long for me.

Owned both
Prefer the symmetry of the 11 over the 12
