My first Panerei - Authentic? I am concerned now...

Hi guys, I got my first Panarei this Xmas and I am actually very happy with it.

My wife bought it from a local dealer in used condition. So, I brought it to a watch guy for asking about a service.

He opened the watch and he found a movement he called ETA. He told me that he is NOT an Panarei guy but I really had the feeling that he was concerned about the authenticity. He said.. I am NOT sure and he also added that he saw really good fakes.

My watch is a Luminor Marina, Firenze 1860

The movement is a A055II (?) marked.. not 100% sure

What do you guys think about the movement?

Thanks soooo much for your help. I am about to return the watch as I have 30 days.

Without knowing what model this is it’s impossible to say if it’s authentic or not. Earlier pams did indeed use ETA movements as shown in your pics. Can you post pics of the watch itself? Did it come with box/papers?

Thanks so much for answering. I am really concerned and don;t know what to do.

1. no box and papers but it was bought from a pretty reputable watch store

Photo from my watch:

What troubles me is this

This swiss fake website offers really good fakes with ETA movements. I am now concerned that my ETA movement is a fake too. My local watch guy confirmed that my movement is a really, really good ETA movement and he believes it's genuine.

I know, but I added links before

You need to remove the space between "." and "co:

Sorry about that but there was no other way for me.

Okay.. from looking at his link, it seems like the model is Pam 164.
I downloaded his pictures and attached it here.

Thanks, that is very kind. If you compare my photos you uploaded with this, you'll see that the movements look the same:

FAKE MOVEMENT:
swisstime .sr /shop/panerai-luminor-marina-automatic-firenze-44mm-pam229/

I am worried, that it's kind of a very good fake. The watch guy said: THIS IS A REALLY GOOD ETA movement.

What I meant was, what letter before your number out of the total number for the year (e.g., F, G, M, etc.)?

Sorry, It's "H"

Hxxxx/1500

What also confuses me that it looks like this number was kind of printed but not engraved.

I would return this watch...it looks fake to me. And even if it is real, it’s in best up condition and no box and papers? Not a keeper at all...

Manual wind Panerais had the “Panerai Panerai” text until around then, I’m not sure about automatics....

Anyway, google “Valjoux 7750” and compare images against yours.

If you’re still not sure, try to return it. Or, if you want to keep it, send it in for a service and see what happens. You’ll either get back a like new 164, or Panerai will give you some bad news....

I live on the front range 50 miles from Silverthorne
Take it to Hyde Park Jewlers in Denver. They are an AD and will help you figure it out.

A couple of other things-
If you have doubts you will never be satisfied with your purchase. Spend a few bucks and get it authenticated or buy something certified. Box and Papers and verified by an AD are a must for me.
The seller is as important as the watch you are chasing...................
Use your head and trust your gut.

Good Luck

7750 Eta movment is so easy to obtain, used by most watch manufacture. If you have doubt return it.
