Help identifying this GMT
I am getting this watch which was a trade-in at an AD and at this moment do not know any information, so maybe someone can satisfy my curiosity:
Does it appear an acrylic and tritium model? Thanks in advance. The dealer is closed and I received these at the end of the day. I only have these three photos my sales guy snapped but I will be wearing it soon and just have to pick it up. Having only had recent versions, I am not sure what I have! https://photos.app.goo.gl/Nw5Zfy8SMLVYmxpg7 https://photos.app.goo.gl/sz8j4jeAjP8cAxin9 https://photos.app.goo.gl/2Ni9PMfE3M9pNA1t6 Last edited by tschiemer; 17 July 2019 at 01:23 PM.. This is a tritium dial as it says T SWISS T at the six marker. I think it is an acrylic crystal but hard to tell from the pics. It looks very similar to my Root beer GMT with a 3.2 mil serial number, which also has a nipple dial like this one. The insert I am torn on as other examples I have seen were black and gold, black and silver maybe just a preference. The insert also looks period correct but may have been replaced as I think there should be a slight serif on some of the numbers. Check to see if there are numbers on the end links, I think they should be 258 for oysters. The bracelet itself maybe a later 7836, which makes me think this is a later 1970s serial number. The bracelet I am not to familiar with as mine is a jubilee but I was looking for an oyster at one point and that number combo was the recommendation. The case does look polished, but not overly at least from these pics, and the bracelet looks somewhat worn. I might add that both can be refurbished. When you get more pics the real experts will weigh in and ask if it comes with box and papers and what kind and if it has been serviced, and if not you should get it serviced...

Thank you. The AD had it serviced. I will post more information once I pick it up and will know the model number and share.

Hand stack indicates it's a slow set 1675/3.

Warranty papers, booklets , outer and inner boxes, with the warranty reflecting 1974, to the original purchaser in Louisiana— almost too good to be true! The Rolex AD did a complete service and gives me a 2 year warranty. Here are photos I just took. It has 2 links in wax paper inside.

So possibly the insert and bracelet were replaced? Or we don’t know for sure but even if they were not bad for a 45 year old watch. I am amazed at its condition and especially w the paperwork and boxes intact. I was disappointed my K serial number Datejust had no box or paperwork and am stunned this GMT did!
Here is my Datejust. I sourced boxes and paperwork for the Datejust from a member of another board who no longer had a Rolex. I hope I was pretty close in time! Thanks all. https://photos.app.goo.gl/z6ADGLDtu2whxeF97 Last edited by tschiemer; 18 July 2019 at 09:38 AM.. Reason: Adding pic and information |

I found a reference to bracelet 78363 as the proper bracelet for this model. See if this is right. It is from reference to variants.
Caliber 1575 Matt dial with white printing. Other Variants: “Ref. 1675/3 Steel/Gold (Oysterbracelet 78363, Jubilébracelet 62523), 14k gold.” From: http://www.gmtmasterhistory.com/gmt-...75.html#1675-3 |
