The Sub will come ouuuut, To-mor-row . . .

Sorry about that. And to think I've never even seen "Annie."

Hey man it's going to be easier to find than you think. As long as you have the correct location, you should be good. The watch will have sunk strait down right where it fell off. As long as you have the right spot, you'll find it. I lost one of my subs about 40 ft down in a lake with zero visibility and was able to find it with just a mask, some fins, and a strong waterproof flashlight. If you've got full scuba gear, you should have no problems. Make sure you have a strong waterproof flashlight, and get some flat bottom nets. Get down there and scrape the flat bottom net along the ground and bring up netfuls of stuff.

Hang in there and keep the effort going like your neighbor offered.

Just remember every lost item that's ever been found was found because the seeker didn't give up hope

How did it come off the wrist? Did the bracelet/clasp fail?? I thought they were meant to be very robust and secure.

First off, sorry to hear about the loss, but glad to hear you haven't given up the search. Hopefully day #2 will be more fruitful.

That said, I've got to ask about this last part of your OP. I get that it sucks to lose a watch you really love, but why give up on watches all together? That really confuses me.

You obviously have a passion for them (like all of us members), so why not use this experience (assuming you don't find it) to either 1) buy another identical watch (even if it means starting the savings fund now) or 2) buy something else (just to experience some variety)?

I think of it in the content of blowing engines in my classic cars (and unfortunately, I've experienced that pain a few too many times). While it's painful at first and all I see are $$$ going away...after the shock & pain wears off, I use it as motivation to just build another monster I like even better. God knows I don't sell all my cars and give up on them totally. When it's something we love, we can't just abandon the idea of ever experiencing it again...that will only lead to more pain & sorrow.

Good luck w/ the search, but if it comes up fruitless, use this as a sign that maybe it's time for something "Bigger & Better" (or at least exactly the same, but "Newer & Shinier"). Cheers!

Crikey..... That must have been one hell of a wipeout......

But seems like you've got some great friends with even better contacts so I'm sure it will work out in the end.

I've a few friends who are divers and they love being called in to help with this sort of thing.... A sort of treasure hunt rather than their normal day to day commercial stuff.

Best of luck.......and never give up......

Another vote for the underwater metal detector here given the viz you mentioned.

Lots of sterling advice on the thread, methodical search as described, metal detector and whole lot of patience and I'm sure you'll find it gwozhog.

Got to keep your neighbour onside his chances of finding it with tanks are so much higher than free dive attempts.

Best of luck from England, that watch belongs on your wrist, keep searching.

Gotta agree, if this search is fruitless then you should pick one up again.

I still think a search by a professional is worth the money. It is great to hear that you have one willing to help. Feeling positive about the results.
