Is this a one man gig? Dude has to be making bank or not?
When i log into my ebay from eBay.ca it limits the listings i can see, if i use ebay.com it opens me up to a whole bunch of other listings. So if you guys are logging in through your local country portal it might be limiting results.

Yeah it’s a strange thing that. It’s the first time I’ve come across this but they’re not showing for me when looking at his other items yet I found the Daytona and when I looked at his recent feedback there was a Seiko I was watching the other week in there too.

I’ve seen him in Quebec have lists of questionable franken watches and he keeps getting them

Curious to hear what some of the experts think of the watch itself?
Such as are the 302 pushers correct on a 72 vintage? Are the hands original?
Would also like to hear if the dial is legit?
Now at 80K with 211 bids all of but one is from same bidder.
I would be very skeptical.

Sadly guys like this often offers bottom dollar to ignorant sellers. A 45 year old Rolex not working? Can’t be worth much since a new one is 8K.

Appalling business practices.

I looked at his other rolex offerings... seems a bit of pot luck as far as original parts... another case of ebay gamble, pass for me

It seems strange that if you look at the bid history there is basically only one bidder.

I once posted an ad for buying Rolex watches but kept getting my posts flagged for being "inappropriate". Probably another buying business unhappy about competition.

One bidder that posted a very high max bid? So every time someone bids up he just auto-counters. If it is like when Jacek bought the Tudor 7922 he could snatch it for 99 999.99 usd and then easily resell it for 250k+ something. If same max issue as last time.

Smart bidding if that is the case. Watch looks AOK to me (all original mark 2 except service crown and pushers) even if I am not the biggest expert on Newmans. Pics show condition fairly clearly. It’s not great but still a big dollar piece.

That's an impressive deal for whoever that bidder is. I imagine that these dealers have software that scans the internet for any low hanging fruit. Anyone want to share that software with me? lol

I am fascinated by the seller, I have seen his listings before and they are poor photos, brief descriptions, and here there total fakes mixed with absolutely amazing watches. So curious...

I still can't see any of his listings, could you please forward a link to another watch from him? Thanks so much!

Thanks so much @Kingface66 + @Dan S

Something is weird at eBay.com, when I search my own items for sale they won't show up.

Maybe it's just my dumbness.

You think that 99.9k trick actually works? That means you would get fucked as a seller.

This feels so recent, even though it's 2017 already.

Quote:
It sold on eBay for $99,999 but as we reported then, a seldom seen eBay seller protection plan, that requires bidders to telephone eBay's fraud protection unit if they want to bid into six figures, prevented it from selling for more.

All other debates aside, I'm not sure why we're assuming HQ paid $99k for this. Yes, it's the upper ebay limit (without a funding check), but both the ebay seller and HQ are based in San Francisco. I think it's eminently plausible that they met in person, that HQ ascertained the watch was nicer than the ebay photos suggested, and that they agreed a price of $99k + $Xk.

Informed conjecture only, but the mark-up assumption behind a lot of comments is questionable at best I think. It's not like payments go through ebay. My guess is the seller is happy.

I have no idea. I guess we will see once it stops or goes above. The watch should be worth much more so I’d be surprised if it doesn’t reach a hundred.

I know nothing about ebay so I am merely speculating as it is a similar situation as when Jacek used the exploit.

I’d buy one of his Tudors. I plan to bid.

I love the excitement of eBay. You never know if you are going to score a deal. Sometimes it doesn’t work out, but I’m miles and miles ahead. So I roll the dice on poor pic and amateur auctions.

It’s clear he’s a quick turnover trader and not the kind of guy to buy from if you want an AD experience or need someone to hold your hand. It’s clear what he does and must be infuriating for him when he sells stuff as needing repair and gets negative feedback saying “can’t set the hands”

What’s the watch worth? People saying someone is going to get a bargain as eBay is restricted to $99k but what sort of bargain are they going to get?

Love to know what he paid. There must be so much of this stuff out there where older owners remember it costing them £100 or widows who don’t know the values these days.

My call on this and I'm no expert but I say it's a 6240 dial on a 6263 case with service pushers and crown. The bracelet doesn't seem to be the correct one either end links should be either 371 or 571. Again no expert but found this so intriguing I had to do a little sleuthing. Happy to be proven wrong. Thought the pros would be all over this one?

If "the pros" are interested, they will certainly not be posting their opinions in this thread.
