Purchasing 28mm DateJust in US

I am planning on purchasing my first Rolex soon. I have tried on various Rolex watches and have decided on a 28mm DateJust. Is it normal for AD to give a discount (when asked for one) when purchasing in the US? If so, what discount is normal? I plan to purchase in Texas (San Antonio or Dallas).

28mm Datejust is not a fast seller as females are tending to size up these days more towards 34/36mm, I’m even seeing women wearing some 40mm

With this in mind I wouldn’t hesitate to ask for a discount. No guarantee they’ll give you one, but I would ask.

Be sure you really want that size. I bought a jubilee dial Date-Just 28mm diamond hour markers and she took it back the next day. It was too small and she’s petite. She has now 31mm like the above, 35mm TT Yacht-Master blue dial and 40mm grape OP.

As others have mentioned, be aware of the size on your wrist. I traded my 28 mm Datejust for a 34mm in different brand,; I also own the LVc, which as a sports watch looks fine but a tad bigger for my wrist. A 37mm Yachtmaster would fit me perfectly on my 6-1/2” wrist.

I agree that it doesn’t hurt to ask for a discount...I imagine that the 28 mm is not as in demand as some of the midsized models.

Sounds like you’ve tried on various sizes and have settled on 28 mm. If that’s the one you want, go for it. Others have mentioned that many women are trending toward the larger sizes, so just be sure that those are not the ones you really want (ie. don’t compromise).

I, for one, still like the esthetics of the classic women’s sizes as well...28 mm looks great. Best wishes!

Agreed. The 28 is way too small even for a small woman. My wife is 100 pound stick figure and wears a 36mm DD. (she is sitting here with me now and as I typed that I was assaulted lol) It looks very good and proportionate. Maybe look at a DJ Tina. Also if you ever decided to trade or sell I believe the 28mm has a bad resale. Either way asking for a discount doesn't hurt.

28mm will always be classy. The choice should depend on the size of your wrist not current fashion trends.

Congratulations! I’ve purchased a bunch of Rolex watches for my wife and kids. My wife has the 28 TT DJ, my oldest daughter (29) really liked the classic look of the 28 SS/WG and a younger daughter (19) loved the 31 OP with oyster.

Women’s preferences have changed over the years. I’m glad you found the watch that sings to you. As a side note my AD typically offers my 400-600 USD off the ladies watches without me asking, which is always nice.
