Zenith el primero

Hi Guys,

These watches are really growing on me, I've decided to buy one as I have no leather strap watch or chrono. I own a SS Sub Date non ceramic, SS Date and a Omega seamaster.

What do you guys think of Zenith as a brand?

The hard choice for me is which one, the first contender is the

Zenith el primero chronomaster 1969, with this watch, I think I can pull off a Black, Blue or Brown strap to mix it up a bit.

The open dial zenith el primero is the only zenith I like , it's a beautiful peice

Open 1969 would be my choice...

I prefer closed, but I did move on from it eventually. Make sure you are fine with the overlapping subdials, and on the 38 mm version, I found the date window extremely small - I could never tell if it was the 2nd or the 12th.

Otherwise, it's a handsome piece, with great value.

To the OP. I think Zenith is a great brand. I love the El Primero's and I would pick the first one.

I prefer the 38mm closed dial as well.

I tried on the 42mm, and thought it was slightly too big for my taste. But I only have a 6.5" wrist, so if yours is any bigger, I definitely could go with this as well. I think I slightly prefer the date @ 6 vs. 4:30 on the 38 mm.

Zenith is my favorite brand right after Rolex, among the models I like the one in between, other two models seem kind of quirky to me

Trading off of past glories, with suspect design decisions taken regarding the overlapping sub-dials making a truly functional item nothing more than a glorified fashion accessory.

Zenith's are great value. The fit and finish is really high. And you are getting the same movement as was put in the old 90's Daytona's - although better since it is a high beat and not de-tuned. I love mine!

Usually I don't like watches that have a lot going on on the dial as I tend to gravitate towards the more minimalist aesthetic. Yet for some reason the El Primero (closed) really appeals to me. Just looks really beautiful. It's on my dream list of watches to buy.

Welcome to TRF... that Zenith does indeed come on bracelet as an option so perhaps that person preferred the leather strap w deployant. :cheers)

if u're getting a chrono, definitely cant go wrong with an el primero!

They have a remake of the 1969 el primero with more spaced out subdials! be sure to check it out. that and ONLY THAT is the one for me!
