Why no love for 116710 GMT?

Why is there no love for the 116710 GMT with the black bezel?

I understand lots of folks want the Batman or Pepsi and these models are selling at a significant premium to MSRP. However, The 116710 is selling at a discount to MSRP while all other Rolex SS models are selling at a premium. Even the 5 digit 16710 is trading higher on the secondary market compared to the 116710.

Any thoughts?

Out of curiosity where are you seeing it being sold at a discount?

Individual tastes aside, the Pepsi version has all the cachet. Two-tone bezels are novel whereas all black bezels are common. I'm guessing that if somebody wants a black bezel with he gets a Submariner. There are not that many people who buy GMTs anyway, and far fewer that eschew the colored bezels for plain black. For those folks who want a bit of both, there is the BLRN.

I'd like to know too as for the past year, this are generally sold out everywhere and usually need pay 500-1k markup even for the LN..

There is generally alot of love for all SS Sports. I'd go to say that I actually see way more for sale of the coloured bezels than the black one in grey dealers, most likely the coloured bezels are being sold for higher premiums while black bezels are being kept by genuine lovers of the watch.

I’m not seeing the LN for less than MSRP - it’s even going with a premium (albeit not at the level of the BNLR) on the grey market

Where?

How large was your sample size to determine that no one loves this watch?

I'm not sure if this is in violation of the forum rules or not?

Currently there are 2 on Bob's Watches @ $8,195.

Those are pre-owned and by looks of it, don't come with official Rolex boxes and papers..

Yes. However, every other Rolex SS watch sells at a premium on the pre-owned market even without box and papers. The 116710 sells at a discount to MSRP.

This is a good thing, the LN has for the most part been the least effected by the current
Rolex madness. The fact that 16710s are trading for a premium over them is simple.
Rolex will never make a reference that great ever again.

Well, if your putting it that way, the LN obviously does sell for less than the BLNR and BLRO SS so obviously the equivalent set will be less with the LN...

And not "every other Rolex SS" sells at a premium on pre-owned market. Plenty of Subs, Explorers, Yachts and GMT SS for less than MSRP on pre-owned market, especially without box and papers..

But the main point is your question why no love for the LN GMT, which is still one of the hottest Rolex watches at the moment, just find it strange why you think this..

I prefer the 116710 LN to the "Batman" version.

My thoughts, fake news. The GMT 2 LN is as beautiful as any other Rolex and has it's loyal followers. You will not find any new Rolex in 2018 selling below MSRP and any used 116710 that is selling below MSRP is likely over seven years old and likely not a complete set.

I prefer it over the BLNR for example.

Who says there’s no ‘love’ for that reference?

Because it isn’t the ‘hyped’ up ‘du jour’ reference —- that everyone wants — but doesn’t know exactly why...

I love the LN but I think to many people it's too close to a Sub. The bi-color bezel helps to distinguish it from the divers.

My personal opinion, if I’m going to get a black bezeled Rolex sports watch, it’s going to be a Sub. The colored bezels are what set the GMT apart from the Sub aesthetically....in addition to the 24 hour hand, functionally.

I have an all-black insert for my 16710, but invariably, it’s wearing either the BLRO or red/black insert.

The GMT bezel bi color helps see day or night at a glance. That's pretty much it.

I love my gmt LN more than BLNR and black sub. It is very comfy and versatile. I can wear it in all occasions.

I have a z serial 16710 that I’ve watched explode in value over the last few years. I’ve been looking to trade my GMT, and I’ve been scouring the sale section here. The other ceramic GMTs sell for more than the ceramic black, and for a higher price relative to msrp. Many 5 digit GMTs sell for more, and some for much more.

The LN is a very popular model. It seems that it is not as popular as the BLNR because this is a Rolex forum.

Out in the wild, there’s quite a lot of them.

The LN is a bit of a sleeper but it's as hot any SS right now, Expll incl. being there are few and far between at most ADs now. The only reason l chose my BLNR over the LN was that the black bezel seemed a little redundant to my SubC and the fact that it was available from my AD. LN at a discount sounds tough to pull off if you can even find one.

Not even close. Hot as the Daytona 500? The ceramic BLRO? The Sub LVc? How about the BLNR?

Now, is it readily available, on demand, at any AD? No it’s not. But hot as any SS right now? Not even close.
