Aero leather jackets. Anyoe here own one?

I have been lusting after an Aero leather Jacket for years now and I think once I buy that BLNR in a few months, an Aero jacket will finally be coming my way.

I currently own a nice Vanson and a decent horse hide Schott but it fits terribly.

I am going to grab a Aero Hercules or a long Half Belt, in cordovan horse hide.

Can anyone here comment on quality? The Aero stuff looks top shelf but I don't know anyone who owns anything made by them to comment nor have I seen any of their goods in person. I'd like to get a few opinions before ordering something since it takes months to make and has to come from Scotland.

I don't have one of these but you just created a hole in my wallet once I found the kids jacket link.

They are kind of pricey. I have to wait till the CAD dollar is a bit higher. CAD to Pound exchange rate is not so good right now.

Aero is probably not so popular here in N America so maybe some of the UK members can chime in.

I have an old sheepskin Ralph Lauren bomber jacket that my kids keep trying to take from me (older nicer leather than they have used in the past 15 years). The kids bomber jacket looks almost like it, 200 euro isn't too bad for that as long as I only get one or two. I hear you on the exchange rate though.

I've admired their sheepskin B-2's and B-3's but fear I wouldn't wear them enough to justify the purchase.

Aero is a quality brand. I've always liked modified "rider" jackets. If I ever buy one it would be a Flat Head from Self Edge.

If you have wanted one for years I think it's close to time you snag one! I'm always afraid they would be hard to pull off.

Ive looked at them for years and have not yet pulled the trigger.

Prices have been climbing lately.

Next time you are through Seattle, check out Thurston Brothers. I understand they have a good selection of try on jackets for sizing and a heck of a custom order program.

I have a Schott Delivery jacket that fits really well so it is hard to justify the expense of a custom Aero since I would probably just get the same style but in Full Quarter Horse Hide.

Dang sorry for the double post.

Man, I hardly ever wear jackets except when riding my motorcycle. Sadly, most leather jackets are not suitable for that sort of activity though unless they are designed specifically for that purpose.

Good to know. It may be cheaper for me to buy from a US seller. Buying direct from Aero is probably more.

I have a Schott horsehide 689h. https://www.schottnyc.com/products/m...hide-racer.htm

It is a motorcycle jacket and fits quite terribly. So much so I never wear it while riding my motorcycle. That is what my Vanson is for, which fits perfectly.

The Schott fits great if you don't move or lift your arms. The sleeves are too short while riding and the cut makes it so the shoulders are at my cheeks when I stretch my arms out to hold onto the handlebars of my motorcycle. It is just resigned to a winter jacket now but even then it still fits terrible and is uncomfortable.

I have looked at Lewis leathers also but they don't any other colours than black.

Haven't heard of Aero before, but I've had a Schott jacket (since stolen by my brother) and they're great quality.

I really like when leather jackets fit like a second skin... very slim fitting and not thick leather.. Some of my favourite jackets have been from Rick Owens, A Diciannoveventitre, Julius and Guidi.

I just picked up my 4th Vanson. Great jackets. I'm going to check out Aero.

I've got a custom Plainsman from Aero in Vincenza horsehide black. It's a lovely jacket and superb quality like all of them. You're looking at the wrong forum to find out about them though.

Are you looking for function, i.e. motorcycle riding appropriate, or style?
If the latter I’m a big fan of Diesel(Jeans) leather jackets. They always have a dozen or more at anytime and typically two yearly seasons like most fashion houses. They’re always very good quality and range from pretty mundane to over the top. I’ve currently got a half dozen with the oldest over 20 years old and picked up a new one back in June.
US pricing ranges from $500-1200 or so but when I see one I like I usually wait until the season ends and they typically go on sale for 30% off.

Yeah, I know. Figured I'd check here just in case since there is a wide variety of guys on here with varying interests ect.

I ordered one regardless. Premiere Half Belt in steer Cordovan coming my way in a couple of months.

Great jacket, I'm having a hard time waiting until Christmas to give it to him. At least it's still a little warm here so no real need for it yet. I'll probably get one for myself next year or so.

I’m in the market for my first nice leather jacket. I discovered Schott at Nordstrom, then custom Aero at Thurston Brothers.

The Aero Seven in Vicenza Horsehide fits bill the for me as I’m looking for a fitted casual lifestyle leather jacket, with some biker characteristics. It’s basically a Cafe Racer with a regular collar. Here is an example of one that is off the charts and mouth watering:

https://www.thurston-bros.com/produc...enza-horsehide

It’s a little more than I want to spend, but the jacket is highly customizable. And the ordering and fit process is great from what I’ve read.

They still have spots in the December production, but they only have until next Friday to get the order finalized, so I jumped in

That is a stunning jacket! You wont even remember the price in a few years but will be glad you pulled the trigger.

Geeze .... I’ve been on their site for the better part of an afternoon

I think I need to call them and ask my questions Their site is good, but it’s really tough to get my head around the various leather options and I’d like to learn more about lining options too.

Beautiful looking jackets and the reviews I’ve been reading seem very positive. I think I’ve gone back and forth between about six styles. I keep coming back to the classic Highwayman. I just need to know if they add about an 1” or so to the body length.

Thnaks again Colin, seriously ... I’ve been looking for a timeless leather jacket for quite some time and Aero definitely fits the bill

I spent a lot of time on thurston-bros.com and thefedoralounge.com since early last week. I haven’t read a bad review while perusing the fedora lounge. The custom Aero process seems very overwhelming at first, but once you get your head around it, it’s not that bad.

thurston-bros.com/pages/custom-aero

I’ve also been emailing Carrie at Thurston Brothers. She has been very helpful. I decided on the Aero Seven in Dark Seal Vicenza Horsehide with an August collar (more refined version of the Highwayman collar), “V” back yoke, slightly slanted chest pockets, nickel Talon front zipper, nickel diamond pulls on the pockets, left side interior pocket with no closure and custom tartan wool liner. This will make a killer casual leather jacket, with some biker jacket features.

Can you email a link to what this combo looks like

Seriously, it’s not like we’ll ever meet and be wearing the same jacket

No worries. I’m horrible with names

I don’t have anything to email you, but here is something close to what I want:

https://www.thurston-bros.com/produc...enza-horsehide

right?

I’ll be doing a few mods, which I listed about. Edit: Single “V” back yoke with no kidney panel I might also do a dark tan stitching for slight contrast.
