IMO, not a fan of the omega co-axial movement thingy... read something about it but didn't attempt to know the details.. if i remember correctly, it's short of a "gimmick" (sorry for the lack of a better term) and that it was "offered" to rolex and they didn't even bother with it (i hope i'm getting this right...)... it's not that it's "bad". but if you put in the price into the equation (as well as the valuation of Omegas), for US$6,800, i'd rather have a rolex on my wrist...

hope i didn't offend anyone.. again, just my opinion...
The issue with the co-axial escapement is that it should offer better accuracy over time and require less service and little or no lubrication. The problem is that the remainder of the watch needs cleaning and lubrication and modern lubricants are light years better than the older lubricants. I don't think that it was a really groundbreaking innovation. There were some initial problems with the 2500 movement, and they were slowed down and modified to improve performance. I am suprised that Omega would create a premium new diver and not put the premium new 8500 movement inside. Perhaps it relates to cost control/reduction. If it was an extra $1000, it may be a really hard sell, though still less than the Deep Sea.

Agree. Bracelet not matching with the overall outlook of the watch.

Its still ceramiche, "Liquid Metal" is the OMEGA trade name...

I hate that they do "limited" anything; another gimick...

Good observation STEELINOX.

I believe this is exactly what OMEGA has done, and as the GMT has been a huge success, OMEGA is jumping in the ceramic pool too...

You will NEVER see this OMEGA go out the door for this much, try about 1/3 off the top to start...

As to the lineage of the watch, the broad arrow hands date to the 1950s; here's a pic of a vintage Speedy with the hands.
I had one of the first RADO DiaStar's; an excellent piece that kept great time and was indestructable.
The arrow hands are very cool retro...

The new Seamaster aint a bad looking watch, I prefer my Sub though. As for the Proplof, in my opinion, it has to be the pig ugliest watch ever built. And as for the shark bracelet, it makes it look even worse. There is no way I would ever want one of them.

It looks like you are wearing a crescent wrench on your wrist. Dumb looking watch.

I love the Speedmaster and have never warmed up to the Seamaster, this one is cool, but I would pick the SD or the Deep Sea over it. (sorry)

Naw...I don't care to get sucked into that. You posted some pictures, obviously looking for comments, and I posted my thoughts.

Funny, I am the total opposite. I don't get (and never have) the Speedmaster but love the Seamaster (especially the chrono which I had for years). But I respect the history and peoples love for the model. As far as the ProPlof, it seems to be more of a collectors peice, I could not see wearing that as a daily watch. But different tastes makes the world go 'round.

That is a stunner! I'm glad that omega is coming out with a new model using the ceramics... I hope it is something they will continue doing once this one flies off the shelf.
