Not bad at all. If Invicta stuck to copying rolex and used seiko movements their sales would go through the roof. I have a 8926ob pro diver that runs great. Not a bad watch for $100 bucks.

Misprint. Was intended to say "Certifiable Designer".

Still, looks pretty nice. My uncle wears his Invicta Submariner all the time over his dozen or so real Rolexes. His opinion: "No one knows, and I wouldn't care if they did."

Actually, the ones I've seen for sale online appear to have the cyclops, so the one in the OP may have been modded.

I have an Invicta 9210A Pro Diver. It's a Yacht-Master SS/Platinum homage, but with an Omega style bezel. I bought it because it is a nice watch with a Japanese Miyota 8215 automatic movement, and display back. It's hard to find Japanese automatics in stores now days. Both Seiko and Citizen have dropped mechanical watches in the USA in favor of the Kinetic and Eco-Drive movements. I had to order a Citizen 200M Diver's automatic from Hong Kong a while back. I bought my Brother-in-Law an Invicta 2614 Pro Diver Abyss with the Miyota day/date automatic movement, and he loves it. I'm looking for another Pro Diver as a gift for another Brother-in-Law. I like giving automatics, as this is a more substantial timepiece, that will give years of service, without ending up in a drawer when the battery dies. I really could do without the Invicta TV sales pitch, but I do like that they offer so many automatics. Many Rolexes have been bought by folks who started with Invicta.

Hommages/copies exist, fact of life, and can be a gate-way to this hobby. But, why not at least take it seriously? The "certified design" business is absolutely insane.

I suppose they do make OK quality watches, but yeah, a life wasted imitating others - well said

I own a few Rolex's and many other brands, includint Invicta and I have no problem with these types of watches. It gives people an entry inot the watch world without buy fakes.

As for Invcitas I'm not a big fan of their Japanese movement watches, but have really enjoyed their Swiss movement (ETA) watches and have had no issues with them. If you are looking at an Invicta, sticke to the watches with Swiss movements.

Bottom line, enjoy whatever you own and don't worry about what others think about your choice. There are a lot of very high end watches that I don't care a bit about and their are some Citizens and Timex watches that I think are great. None of the homage watches take away sales from their expensive counterparts, as compared to fakes which can be passed off as real and do cut into the bottom line of the real company watches.

I'm sorry but isn't "homage" just a nice word for replica or knock-off?

No disrepect meant to those that like Invicta watches. I know the movements are decent for the price point but c'mon now....

I have to go put my kevlar on - back in a few!

"Homage" suggests respect as a motive. I have typically used the term "knock-off" because producers like Invicta have "knocked off" the design. I highly doubt their primary intention is to show respect.

But then I read posts from people like Adam, who have a lot of respect for Rolex but maybe don't have the means to buy one yet. It seems to me that maybe part of the reason they wear an Invicta is to show some allegiance to Rolex, hence the word "homage" applies.

A replica is a fake.

This thread has opened my eyes a bit, such that I better understand the desire some have for a homage. I have a lot more respect for this than anyone who wears a fake.

definitely.

Wearing a homage time piece isn't a crime. It is a crime when you wear a fake and tried to pass it as a genuine article.

There is nothing wrong with "homage" design. It must be legal for Invicta to do so, otherwise Rolex would've eaten them from breakfast already.

Wear with pride.

I agree Eric, however the Date Master Certified Design is a bit much. Although probably legal, consideering the real close homage, just a bit too much in my opinion.

Fair enough - I stand corrected.

Not right, get the same feeling when I see one of those Genesis cars. Amazing how some will steal your designs and make a profit under the umbrella of homage/admiration.
BS BS BS
Btw has nothing to do with trying to pass it as real. It's about stealing something that was original.
