All Rolex would have to do is get a big bucket of crowns, and pay someone to sit there and find the crown that lines up with each and every case. I'm sure doing that wouldn't slow production, or add cost.
^sarcasm^. :)

I'm going to check with my ADs watchmaker on Monday regarding this presumed feature of the Sky Dweller. I'm just a bit skeptical at this time.

This is not that complicated. All the threading of cases start at one point, and the same with the crowns. Figure o-ring for snugness and it would be EASY for Rolex to have them all align in whatever direction they want.
Then again, maybe they already do. Just another "is it a real Rolex" by Rolex. |

Would it be a nice touch if all Rolex crowns lined up? It sure would.
Is it a deal clincher that it doesn't? Certainly not. Interestingly, a while back I was looking at Rolex watches with a non watch enthusiast friend. She was the one that noticed that the logos on the crowns didn't always line up. She was genuinely surprised and thought that being "a Rolex" they should all be pointing upwards. I stress that it was a totally innocent comment borne out of curiosity from a non WIS type. |

What do you think about this. MY dd crown is perfect when tighten down. It has been serviced 3 times since 1980. The crown still is perfect. all three times new tube and crown were replaced. How does this happen, anyone have an idea?

Can you point me in any direction where it states the winding crown emblem has to line up with anything.Yes its shown in the brochures and photo shoots and the date on all set to the 28th and all the hands set to exactly the same time. And who for gods sake is ever going to look where the emblem lines up on the wrist when wearing its a wrist watch, and not a alignment point watch. Its a winding crown that's meant to be turned, some line up if its supposed to line up,and some don't, get over it or sell the Rolex watches and buy another brand.Got to ask today most inspect there watches when bought some with loupes for minute details. So if the crown did not line up when you bought it why did you not reject the watch.Or is it now because that yourself and others have read crown topics like this on internet forums.

Normally I agree that some worry too much about this or that. But it's their watch, let them. Just because they wished Rolex aligned all their crowns on their crowns...doesn't mean they can't discuss it. Really, no one should discuss anything, we should "get over it, or sell it"...really? One of the things I like about Rolex are the details. If its like you said just "a wrist watch", then every wrist watch is equal...as none state "our emblems and writing, and crowns, and indiglo buttons will always align perfectly". But its the little details that some love about Rolex. Let it be the font of the writing, the crown, or the inner details of the movement. But its the details. |

the K on my kemmner 007 lined up perfectly, (£250 watch) so does my buddies bremont (£3k)
my crown (eg the top of the middle of the coronet) points at about 7 that doesn't bother me, I just wish ALL the marketing shots and videos reflected the true random crown orientation rather than a fake perfect!! |

Never even thought to look at mine. But sense you brought it up I need to check.
My 16710 "Pepsi" and my 116610 LV aka "Hulk" both have the crowns perfectly upright. I heard on the internet that the upright crown makes them more valuable. |

My 1680, 16800, and 9401 are either at 12 or 1.
My 9411 and my 16750 are not. It's cool but not a deal breaker to me.
