Should I, shouldn't I?
I have an M series PAM 233, which has lately not being seeing much wrist time. Though I love the watch, it just (lately) feels heavy and uncomfortable on the wrist and I find myself mostly sticking to my Explorer 1 for daily wear.
I'm now wondering if I should sell the 233 given that weeks go by and I don't wear it or miss it? I have no alternate watch in mind, other than the Pepsi GMT, which is impossible to find anyway. My other watch is an ALS 1815 Up/ Down, so between the Explorer 1 and the ALS, I have both casual and dress pretty much covered. Any of you been in a similar situation re your PAM? Cheers |

When the love is gone, the love is gone. But, I personally would have a really hard time giving up the 233... maybe wait until you find something you really want, and see how you feel then?

I have a tendency to move into and out of the Panerai game. I always keep my straps as I will be back. If you are not feeling it then see what you can get on a sale or a trade. If that number works then do it. If it does not, then don't. It maybe that you just need a different Panerai to freshen things up a bit.

Perhaps hide it away somewhere for a couple of months and see how you feel without it?

You can send it my way. And when you need it. I’ll send it back to you.

Maybe buy a new strap, something a little different from what you have and see if that reignites your love for the watch. The 233 is a classic and one of the best PAM out there... I wouldn’t let it go just yet.

I'd wait as well. The 233 is a really iconic Panerai. I understand it is bigger and busier than your other watches, but something motivated you to purchase it in the first place and you may come back around to it. I highly recommend to everyone to really think about flipping a watch for months after you have already decided you might do it. I regret a few of my flips.
It's also nice to have a watch that is diametrically different from your other references. I wear my Panerai mostly on weekends and for events because they tend to be conversation pieces. My Rolex watches get far less attention despite being worth more and more "prestigious." It's nice to have variety in a collection. |
