Daytona 116520 or 116500

Im deciding between the a 2007 SS Daytona complete with papers and a brandnew 2019 Daytona ceramic in black dial. Price difference between the two is about $ 5k. Both are from resellers ($16k for the 2007 and about $21k for the 2019 ceramic) since i know i will not have a chance from my local AD. Which would you choose between the two?

500 will look better with time, imho. The 520 already looks worn. Your call!!!

I own both those models and prefer the 116500. My wife is wearing the 116520 now. Can’t go wrong with either.....just not keen on those premium prices though. Good luck!

Will the $5k extra be worth it for the Ceramic daytona?

I have a 11500 and now am eyeing the 116520. I suppose you will always want the one you don't have.

I like the 116520 here.....white I would go with the 116500. I like the way the 116520 wears smaller on the wrist.

Had the same decision to make a year ago - always wanted and prefer the 116520, not a fan of the ceramic bezel IMO

Nobody likes scratches, but the 520 bezel soon looks worn and is much more noticeable than the other scratches you will probably pick up.

Drove me mad -so I sold.

500 any day.

A can not think about paying 20k for an 11 and something k watch.

I mean with a bit more than 20k you can’t get an entry level Patek.

116520 straddles the dressy/sporty line better because of the bezel, whch looks more dressy and elegant. 116500 is more of a pure sporty-looking watch. If you want a one and only, or at least a watch that works well in all situations, then I'd say the 116520 is the better choice.

For less money, you could get one in white gold. GOLD!

Me, personally, I'm just not a fan of the ceramic Daytonas. Sub, sure, GMT, absolutely. The 116520 has always been, and always will be, a classic.
