1675 advice

Dear all,

I am an absolute newbie to vintage watches, but have my eye on a particular 1675 from 1966...

I have posted a pic which I hope shows up.. It is going for about USD5650.

Can I have your opinions on the piece and whether its a fair price?

Thank you all... Appreciate it...

Welcome to the forum1

Looks like a later replacement dial and hands. Very nice fat font bezel insert.

The watch has had some polishing during its life but still shows nice squared crown guards.

Can't comment much on the band, do you have any reference numbers? Appears to be appropriate to the time period.

Anything else included, accessories, what is the service history?

The watch has no box and papers..

As with service history, can't be too sure of that..

Hands changed

Dial changed

A lot of bracelet stretch -- does not look like it would be comfortable to wear although rivet is correct to the period I believe (can't say for the actual year)

The date disc appears to have been changed

Case looks alright as noted above

Bezel is a really nice fat font which is period correct

I would think you should be able to do better on price. I got a '68 GMT with all original parts except bezel and date disc (incorrect bracelet -- came on a 9315 which is pretty valuable) with some paper (no box) off a recent service for $5500 canadian for reference.

Pass unless you can get it for cheaper. Needs some work as outlined above

Agreed. How about this one from Jacek? I've bought from him before and he'll do his best to answer your questions honestly. Recommended.

The date disc is correct for mid-1970's GMT. It should be white and have the fat numbers with closed sixes and nines for that time period. If your date disc looks different, or is silver, it has been replaced.

This would be a better watch for the money, and everything is negotiable to a point.

He said the watch is dated to 1966 in the opening post.

My date disk for a 1968 is white with closed 6's and 9's. I always presumed it was changed (which frustrated me). If you are telling me I do, in fact, have the correct date disc, I will be thrilled.

Yes it is correct. There is a lot of mis-information out there. Everyone thinks they were silver which wasn't until later - along with flat threes with the open sixes, nines etc. etc.
