I think it's inevitable that they release more 42mm ROO models in the future. Most of my Chinese friends agree that the 44s are killing the brand in Asia. they want something that fits a little better before they hand over their money...

Yes they like big sport watches, but 42mm is already plenty big for guys with 15 or 16 cm wrists

Agreed. It's a pity that their 42mm models have kinda fallen to the wayside... but I'm thankful I do have the Jarno Trulli, one of the cooler 42mm LEs out there. I'm never buying an ROO with a steel bezel again - I've marred too many of them to go for one again.

In Hong Kong I saw plenty of people wearing 44s that looked ridiculous on them - people with even smaller wrists than me were wearing them.

Congrats on the Trulli, that is an awesome piece. I agree, some guys are happy just to wear the brand, whether it fits or not. But tastes are maturing, and buyers are becoming more discriminating.

With prices being so high, I don't blame them. A few of.my friends spent AP money sourcing 116500s because they didn't like the ROO lineup

5712/1A is an amazing piece and a much better long-term investment than any ROO imo. As much as I enjoy wearing my 26400IO, I still choose my 5726/1A over it any day eventhough is a completely different watch aesthetically speaking.

I may as well focus on getting a 5712/1A... where I know I'll be much happier (and headache free, that is until something goes wrong and it stays with Patek for like 8 months )[/QUOTE]

Fair play, Tom, you tried it on at least. Better to have loved and lost than to have just lost.

Good call. Great watch but a bit large in this case.

Such a beautiful watch. I was really hoping it worked out for you since I also have the small wrist syndrome and love the look of the 44s. Guess I need to start pumping serious iron.

That's the right decision IMHO, the 5712 is an awesome watch you'll love it, and hey we don't all have arms like Stallone and such, the 5712 will look great on you, this one doesn't

And you have the Trulli which is one of the coolest 42's, I have the CE diver and very happy with it, could I wear a 44? Sure but too borderline IMO, even for 6,8-7 wrists, and thin forearms...

I agree

Im glad you gave it a go though as now you know for sure. I love the 5712 although if i had to choose i would probably pick the 5164 as my preferred watch. I can't always separate my fear of wearing the 5712 too much and messing up the bracelet finishing with the question of, objectively, if i also like it slightly less than the 5164. I love both though, its just a matter of me trying to figure out which one is preferred.

Congratulations. IMHO the SS is the nicest of all the 44s.

For me the 5712 is much nicer than the 5164A, now if it was a 5164R, that would be a close tie, not a big fan of SS Aquas, much prefer them in RG, but prefer the Nauts in SS

You've picked up on the one thing that I am hesitant about when it comes to picking up a 5712/1A. I'm running into the same problem with my BLNR - I almost never wear it because I'm scared of scratching the PCLs. I won't delude myself that I'll won't also be worried about scratching the finish of a 5712.

Considering that, and when I look at prices for the 5712/1A I wonder if the 5712R is the better buy.

Ill be fine once it gets worn in a bit as the first scratches are the hardest. Im more of a strap fan in general though as i don't have to be as careful with them. 99% of the scratches on my watches are on the bracelet, almost never on the case. My GMT is sufficiently scratched up that i don't think twice about it anymore and that is a good thing.

The only thing i truly dislike about the nautilus on bracelets is they are impossible to get off. I still struggle with mine. The blue dial is amazing though and i would put up with the bracelet vs getting either gold version on a strap with the non blue dials.

Sounds like you love the 5712 and you’re trying to talk yourself out of it. Watches are made to be worn. Scuffs are battle wounds and all watches get them. Feel like you’d keep the 5712 forever so I wouldn’t worry too much about a minor scratch here or there

Haha you have my psychology figured out perfectly. I agonized for a few years over getting a 15202ST and again scratches were one of my primary concerns. Bought it a few months ago and love it to bits - I baby it, but I won't be too crushed when I give it its first scratch as it's a piece I plan to take with me on the next chapters of my life and truly hope to pass on to the next generation.

Godspeed my friend. Get the 5712...I willl be shortly and have a personality as you; agonize over something like this

The right decision for sure, it was just too big. I've gone back and forth on a number of offshores over the years and always the same result, I could slide two pens either side of my wrist under the strap and the overhanging lugs.

In the end I settled for a ROC, at 41mm. That too was eventually sold as after three years I decided it too was too big. My "Genta" itch was finally scratched with a 5711, and it fits like a glove! So go hunt that 5712 down.

Personally i get where you are coming from with the ROC. Im fine with a 44 as far as size as i don't have very small wrists but like you i tend to think the 41mm ROC is pushing it for me as far as size. I may get one at some point, but so far, thats my reasoning for not. Its not supposed to be big in the same way as a 44.

In general i think a ROO looks better on smaller wrists than a 41mm ROC so the decision should not be solely based on case size.

No a Nautilus is much nicer on bracelet, had both a 5712-1A and a 5726A at the same time, get on bracelet!
About scratches if you are careful enough you'll be ok, just put your arm in the front or back when going through a doorway, the only 2-3 hairlines I have on the bezel were made by my Amstaff when he was small, and I even sleep with my watches, so except if you get a Pitbull or Amstaff, you should be ok

Sounds like you are wearing the watch way too tightly and perhaps inhibiting blood flow in your wrist? As for the size, ya.. it does looks too big on you to be honest.

Please sell that thing. It's monstrous on your wrist.

I'm also a 6.5" wrist guy and it sucks, but, the 44mm watches simply don't work. The 39mm 15202 looks great on you! Stick with that.
