Just added this, my first Explorer 1.
So good for so many reasons - 39mm size is spot on, matte dial, great lume, nice and thin, flip lock clasp, SS bezel, extremely comfortable, great legibility.

Congrats! I have the 36, and it’s my go to, very often. My dial is shinier, but any Explorer is just cool. Wear it in good health. Kat Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Noticed here in the UK Explorer prices dropping like a stone. New 40mm, 36mm and TT all failing to fetch Rolex retail prices now. The last 40mm completed and sold on ebay made £500 short of list. Older clean models without box and papers are under £4k now....ouch, but good to see a shift towards some market sensibility.

I just joined the Explorer club again 2 weeks ago! I owned a 14270 for a week about a decade ago and it was just too small. I flipped it and never looked back.
The 39mm 214270 Mark 2 is my fav Rolex of 25 years collecting! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That's a beauty! Curious if you have ever tried on the 214270 and/or owned one. Also, any issues with your 32xx movement? Scared me into a 39mm MK2. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I own a MKII that I no longer wear. I prefer the smaller size of the 124270 plus the AR and gloss dial, longer PR , and handset/ dial lay out design. On my 7 inch wrist the MKII always felt “too much dial”. It’s a fantastic watch in photograph and on other peoples wrist but for me something was always a little off. I just prefer the smaller watch feel of the 36 even though both fit well. I’ve been lucky so far with crazy good accuracy. Almost spot on after 4 months of 24/7 wear. Now that I’m back at home I’m rotating it with my diver so I rest it in its fastest position ( most positions loose time ) and it’s running about 3 seconds fast per week. ..Explorer & Spring Diver - I’m just here for the photos.. |

I wore it a lot, and loved it. But I always felt like I preferred it in photographs or in the mirror compared to how it looks when on my own wrist. The way we see a watch on our own wrist at 18 inches is very different to how we see the same watch on somebody else’s wrist at 6 feet away. ( or your own watch in a stand up mirror ) I think if my wrist was larger than 7 1/4 inches I’d probably still be wearing the MKII. The 124270 is definitely on the small side and if I wasn’t into the vintage sizing I wouldn’t have bought it when I first tired it in and was accustomed to the larger size on wrist. On my wrist the 40mm Explorer felt enormous ….. I definitely preferred the MKII . ..Explorer & Spring Diver - I’m just here for the photos.. lol |
