Visited 4 AD’s in South Florida this week...

While looking for a new Rolex for my wife’s up coming birthday, this week I stopped by four different AD’s in South Florida.

While at each store I also asked about the availability of the elusive GMT 116710
BLNR. While each stored had great inventory none had the BLNR in stock.

This is what I experienced:

Mayors said they had none in their system but could order one directly through Rolex and could have it in 3-4 weeks with a 20% refundable deposit. I asked if I put a larger deposit or paid in full if I could get it quicker and he said no as it still takes 3-4 weeks to get it from Geneva.

Weston Jewelers said they had one come in on Wed. but was sold very quickly as they worked their way down their waiting list. He said no deposit required.

JR Dunn laughed and said that their waiting list was very very long but since I bought two watches from them two years ago I would get priority ranking over someone who hadn’t made a purchase. He said they haven’t had a BLNR in their store in four months. He said they weren’t allowed to take deposits.

Tourneau said they sold one last week but to get on the waiting list I had to put up a deposit. The larger the deposit the higher you move up the list. She said currently that I would have to put a 65% deposit to move to the top of their current list. Said wait time 6-8 months.

Needless to say I didn’t put my name on any of the lists.

Looks like to me if some one really wants a BLNR at MSRP in a 3-4 week time period Mayors might be the better option.

If you want it, several of our Trusted Sellers have the watch. Send them a note and negotiate. You will not do worse than an AD at full retail plus tax and you can have it the next day.

The dealer that told you highest deposit moves you up sounds horrible. So you ante up 65% and later that day someone puts down 66% and you have to wait months. Sounds like a poor business ethics model to me

stay away from that deposit game, they just string you along for months and months, basically trying to prevent you from buying elsewhere.

Philipson's Jewerly in Clearwater have one in stock. Not an AD but a very reputable store. They are @philiosons.watches on Instagram, 727.723.9400 ask for Payton. They are a long time family jewelry store and will take good care of you. I purchased my wife's Turn-O-Graph from them recently and could not be happier.

Mayors will get you the watch with the least amount of BS.

Deposit to show you mean it.

Wait a month.

Get the watch.

Easy peasy

That was Tourneau, I would never buy anything from that company.
I’ve read so many stories out here about BLNR , I had time this week to kill between meetings so I wanted to hear what the AD’s were actually telling people. All did say they wouldn’t discount the watch beacuse some one would pay full retail and they’d sell it immediately.

We went to a Tourneaus in Naples Fl early Feb and inquired about a Hulk, none there but put my name on a card with the saleslady. No deposit just name and number. Called a week later they hadthe watch and would ship it if I was not still in town. Went to another Ad a week later and they had a BLNR in the display case along with a Sub Date and a deepsea.
Mayors in Orlando wanted a 20% deposit for a hulk early Jan est 4 week delivery, passed on it.
The hard to come by watches are beginning to show up.

I wouldn’t trust the 3-4 week timeline.

I agree. I wouldn’t put up a deposit unless I could be assured I’d have it within a specific period of time and for a specific price. Even then I may not want to do a deposit. But open ended...never.

With recent posts of incomings of GMT’s and inventory of GMT’s & Subs, etc....trickling in to inventories lately...does this mean no slimmer lugs/case redesign for GMT or Sub, come March??
