Where to buy Cuban Cigars?

Please don't chastise me (not a cigar aficionado) BUT I want to buy Cuban Cigars for my wedding. Cohiba is a well known name and I see there are a ton of websites who sell them now. My question is are they authentic and for all the puffers out there (I am not one) whats your best advice where to buy?

I occasionally enjoy a cigar but I don't claim to know much of anything about leafs, rolls, brands etc.

My vision is to have an authentic Cuban Cohiba from Cuba not one of the "now better" producing countries for a decent price.

Any and all advice is welcomed and I thank you in advance for your help.

If you're near the Cuban diplomatic mission at the UN, they've been known to trade cigars for a really nice jacket.

I have used Cuban Lou's https://www.cubanlous.com/cuban-cigars a hand full of times to ship into the states. I only had one shipping issue and they promptly resent my order.

Just guessing, but I’d say yes. I don’t see them advertised anywhere. I stand corrected. See below

Still legal for cigars, though some restrictions on other things were reinstated last year by the new administration:

Thank you gents, if the wedding is in the summer and I do not have a humidor when is it safe to buy them? I want to make sure I have them just in case there are any issues with shipping etc. I cant do a week before with everything else I have to button up in that week.

Get yourself a Boveda pack and use a tupperware or similar container with the Boveda. Even a ziplock bag will work. Cheap and good humidor.

About to hit submit on an order from them. These are really Cuban cigars and can they be shipped to me in the US?

Ok to leave cigars in wooden box while stored?

Yes, great place for them. Just throw one of the Boveda packs in there. Some boxes actually come/ship with them.

I went ahead and ordered a box of Partagas. Can't wait until they arrive. I'll light one up on my patio the night they arrive and my friends and I will be enjoying them at our next BBQ.

You are good to go. That will keep your cubans in good shape for months.

California hasn't banned smoking outdoors, yet?

Only in public places. My patio is not a public place.

Great thing about San Diego is the weather. I can light up a cigar on my patio year round in shorts and a t-shirt.

I see you already ordered. I've ordered 4-5 times and my experience has always been 5 stars. The shipping is a little slow at the worst.

Just realize they can be confiscated by US CBP. The embargo is still in place and ordering contraband online is not legal in the US. Only way to "legally" bring Cubans into the country is to physically bring them back with you from abroad.

I saw this so I’m thinking about separating my 3 25 boxes in case. They come from Switzerland FYI.

Ballzzz, You can order from someone a little closer than Switzerland. Thomas Hinds is one of the oldest cigar stores in Toronto Canada. They regularly send Cuban cigars to the US. They can help you get them without being confiscated by US customs. They've been doing it for many years. Reach out to them at the number below. Ask for Mike, Michelle or Giuseppe. They will take care of you.

Wait, we can do that here too.

Only difference is that we might freeze to the patio concrete!

Only issue is Canadian taxes! A $200 box from Switzerland will most likely cost double that from Canada. In fact, many Canadians that are members of a Cuban cigar forum I frequent order online because of Canada's onerous tobacco taxes. Apparently Canada has become very "Anti-Cigar" friendly.

Your absolutely right about the tobacco taxes. To help offset some of this they will at times offer price discounts. Also anything shipped out of country is done without sales tax. Some people prefer to talk to a live person in a real brick and mortar who can walk you through a process to ensure your cigars won't be confiscated by US customs. Was giving the OP a much lower risk option.
